Summary
On certain Model 3 vehicles, brake lines may be corroded beyond acceptable limits, which may result in loss of brake fluid. Loss of brake fluid will result in a customer facing alert if the fluid reaches the predetermined level to trigger an alert. Upon customer complaint of a low brake fluid alert, evidence of a brake fluid leak, or a failed periodic roadworthiness inspection, inspect the brake lines. If corrosion is found on any of the brake lines, replace all brake lines on the vehicle with new corrosion-resistant parts, in one combined repair. NOTE: Due to dual reduncancy, vehicle safety is not impacted by corrosion on the brake lines.

Repair Bulletin: This repair bulletin provides instructions on addressing a possible customer concern regarding the operation of
Tesla vehicles. These instructions should only be performed by trained professionals.
Condition
On certain Model 3 vehicles, brake lines may be corroded beyond acceptable limits, which may result in loss of brake
fluid. Loss of brake fluid will result in a customer facing alert if the fluid reaches the predetermined level to trigger an
alert.
Correction
Upon customer complaint of a low brake fluid alert, evidence of a brake fluid leak, or a failed periodic roadworthiness
inspection, inspect the brake lines. If corrosion is found on any of the brake lines, replace all brake lines on the vehicle
with new corrosion-resistant parts, in one combined repair.
NOTE: Due to dual reduncancy, vehicle safety is not impacted by corrosion on the brake lines.

Remove
1. Remove the high voltage (HV) battery (refer to Service Manual procedure RWD, Dual Motor).
2. Remove the front subframe assembly (refer to Service Manual procedure RWD, Dual Motor).
3. Remove the rear subframe assembly (refer to Service Manual procedure 30010201).
4. Remove the LH sill brake lines (refer to Service Manual procedure 33035102).
5. Remove the rear LH to sill brake line (refer to Service Manual procedure 33035202).
6. Remove the rear RH to sill brake line (refer to Service Manual procedure 33035302).
7. Remove the ABS to wheels 4 tube bundle (refer to Service Manual procedure 33033952).
NOTE: The Dual Motor procedure is also applicable to the RWD version, since the front subframe has already
been removed.
8. Remove the master cylinder to ABS brake lines (refer to Service Manual procedure 33034002).
Install
1. Install the master cylinder to ABS brake lines (refer Service Manual procedure 33034002).
NOTE: Only perform the installation steps required to install the brake lines on the ABS unit and the clip that
attaches the brake lines to the unit. Do not perform the entire installation procedure.
2. Install the ABS to wheels 4 tube bundle brake lines (refer to Service Manual procedure 33033952).
NOTE: Only perform the installation steps required to install the brake lines and return to this document before
the step that instructs to reinstall the battery bracket. Do not perform the entire installation procedure.
3. Install the shock tower brace and 12V/LV battery (refer to Service Manual procedure 10102212).
NOTE: Do not reconnect 12V/LV power at this point. Only perform the physical installation steps of the
12V/LV battery installation procedure).
4. Position the LH side sill brake lines (x2) to the vehicle, and then fasten the clips (x5) that attach the brake lines to
the vehicle (Figure 1).

5. Insert the LH side sill brake lines (x2) into the LH rear brake junction block, and then install the clip that secures
the brake lines at the junction block.
NOTE: The brake lines will be torqued in the next steps.
6. Install the RH to sill brake line to the body, and then fasten the clips that attach the brake line to the body (Figures
2 and 3).

7. Insert the RH to sill brake line into the brake hose at the jounce hose bracket, and then use a crowfoot extension
to install the brake line tube nut (12 mm, Torque 16 Nm) into the brake hose (Figure4).

8. Install the LH to sill brake line to the body, and then fasten the clips that attach the brake line to the body
(Figure 5).

9. Repeat step 7 for the LH to sill brake line.

10. Insert the LH and RH to sill brake lines into the junction block, and then use a crowfoot extension to install the
brake line tubes nut (12 mm, Torque 16 Nm) into the junction block (Figure 6).

11. Install the LH side sill brake lines (x2) into the LH front brake junction block, and then fasten the nuts (x2, 12 mm,
Torque 16 Nm) that attach the brake lines to the brake junction block (Figure 7).

12. Install the rear subframe assembly (refer to Service Manual procedure 30010201).
13. Install the front subframe assembly (refer to Service Manual procedure RWD, Dual Motor).
14. Install the high voltage battery (refer to Service Manual procedure RWD, Dual Motor).
15. Bleed the brakes (refer to Service Manual procedure 33031202).
NOTE: If any corrosion caused by brake fluid leakage is found on adjacent parts, refer to relevant Toolbox
articles.
