Important information before updating the software

* Anewly developed test program is used to input the SVM code. Please ensure that the tester being used has
the latest ODIS update. The new test program for software updates is included in ODIS software.

* Asecond USB-C stick is required for the software update for the Android control unit (see parts information for
part number).

* Important: Please prepare the required USB-C sticks (see parts information) before starting the repair. The
update media can be used for multiple vehicles.

* This update package also includes new software for the MIB3 infotainment system. Useful information for
MIB3 software updates can be found in TSB 2060523, 97 MIB3: Software Update Instructions.

Repair procedure

1. Manual software update for AED control unit (DA 078E) via red menu
If the update has already been attempted but was aborted, check whether the Android control unit (078E) already
has software version 0727. If this is the case, please skip step 1.

The AED control unit can only be updated via the red menu in the MMI. On these vehicles, the menu can no
longer be activated manually via the MMI touchscreen. Please proceed as follows:

Use the following functions in ODIS-S:
Use “Flash” mode

SVM — special functions

Activation of update menu (red menu)
Perform test

Complete/Next

Follow the instructions in ODIS — at a certain point you will be prompted to insert the USB update medium (DA
0078E) in the USB connection (refer to “Parts information” for part number).

The control unit will then switch to update mode and the update will start automatically. During this period, the
control unit will perform multiple resets and the image on the display will change multiple times.

When a list of MMI control units is shown, please scroll to the bottom on the MMI, press “Resume” and finish the
update by selecting “Quit”. This will close the red menu completely. The system will perform another restart.

Wait until the MMI has fully initialized. The home screen must be complete and display all apps.

Open the notification center by pressing on the bar in the top center of the MMI and dragging it down, then select
the “Audi connect notifications” tab.

2. Perform manual update for control unit 1 for information electronics (005F) via red menu
You must not start step 2 until after you have performed the update for the Android embedded device (DA 0078E)

as described in step 1.

The control unit for information electronics can only be updated via the red menu in the MMI. On these vehicles,
the menu can no longer be activated manually via the MMI touchscreen. Please proceed as follows:

Use the following functions in ODIS-S:

Use “Flash” mode

SVM special functions -> Activation of update menu (red menu)
Perform test

Complete/Next

Follow the instructions in ODIS — at a certain point you will be prompted to insert the USB update medium (DA
005F) in the USB connection (refer to “Parts information” for part number).

until the MMI has fully initialized.

Then remove the USB stick and finish the update in ODIS by selecting “Complete/Next”.
3. Enter SVM code

Next open “SVM code input” in the menu in ODIS-S and use the following SVM code to document that the
control unit has been updated.

SVM code: BLA3CHECK

The following entry will be shown in ODIS: The following event has occurred:

Event in Audi Software Version Management (SVM): 8067

This means that an event memory entry about the software version management has been logged.

This will be dealt with later. Finish entering the SVM code by selecting “Complete/Next”.

4. Bus sleep mode

Put the vehicle in bus sleep mode after performing the software update.
Then switch the ignition back on and start the MMI.

5, Erase event memory
Run the test program “J794 - Checking SVM” in ODIS-S.

The event memory entry resulting from the previous event 8067 will change to intermittent and can then be
erased.

6. Check emergency call LED

Check whether the emergency call LED in the roof module lights up in green again.

If the LED does not turn green, please refer to TSB 2079652 Emergency call LED in roof module not lit up in
green.

7. End diagnostic session and send diagnostic log online

The Guided Fault Finding test plans should NOT be carried out for diagnostic entries that are repaired by performing
this TSB and cannot be invoiced.

Required Parts and Tools

The following applies when creating the update media:

Please prepare the required USB-C sticks before starting the repair.
You must not use an SD card with an adapter USB stick.

You cannot invoice the USB-C stick and loading the software.

Download the software with the corresponding part number onto a USB-C stick (min. USB 2.0 with 32 GB).

Please do not use a USB-C stick with a larger storage capacity as such USB sticks have a different formatting
process.
