Procedures in the event of a missing diagnostic tester or other diagnostic equipment

Information:

PCNA has identified the need onhow to proceed in the event that a diagnostic tester or its accessories have gone
missing. Diagnostic testers are safety‑critical devices used in daily service operations. They contain information
requiring special protection, including in particular:
• Sensitive diagnostic data
• Vehicle and identification information
• Access ‑protected diagnostic software
• Manufacturer‑specific programs and configurations
The loss of such a device – whether through misplacement, accidental omission, or potential theft
– represents a
relevant security risk. To ensure the continuous protection of our systems, data, and customer vehicles, a clearly
structured reporting and escalation process must be strictly followed.

Procedures:

The following procedures should be followed in the event of a missing diagnostic tester:
1. Immediate notification by the Porsche Cent
er
As soon as it is determined that a diagnostic tester, VCI, or measurement equipment is missing, the Porsche
Center must immediately inform the responsible importer. Timely reporting is crucial to minimize risks to data,
software, and infrastructure.
2. Assessment, blocking of the diagnostic tester, and forwarding by the importer
The importer receives the report, documents the incident, and forwards all relevant information to Porsche AG.
This includes, among other things:
• device type and serial number
• time and place of the loss
• last known usage (if possible)
• measures already taken on site
The importer deactivates the affected diagnostic tester in the Porsche License Administration to prevent potential
misuse and erroneous billing.
3. Implementation of technical security measures by PAG
Upon receipt of the notification, PAG initiates the necessary technical actions, including:
• documentation in our systems
• permanent blocking of the device in the central backend (if required)
These measures ensure that sensitive systems or vehicle information cannot be misused.

Important:

Diagnostic testers are not merely work tools, but central interfaces to highly sensitive vehicle functions.
Unauthorized access could:
• manipulate diagnostic processes
• retrieve safety- relevant vehicle data
• alter or misuse software versions

ensures that risks are
immediately identified and protective measures are implemented without delay.
