Introduction

Certain 2018 – 2026 model year LC 500 and 2018 – 2025 LC 500h vehicles are equipped with
high-friction brake pads specifically designed for superior braking performance and response. As a
result, the front or rear brakes may exhibit a squeal/squeak noise. For customers who find these
characteristics objectionable, brake pads with alternative material are now available as
service parts.
NOTICE
Any changes made to the brake pad material may result in altered and possibly reduced braking
performance and/or feeling under certain driving conditions, including track use.
NOTE
 Please note the disclosures stated in the LC 500 and LC 500h sales information, both in print form and
online, and discuss with the customer before installing the alternate brake pads listed in this
Service Bulletin.
 It is an inherent characteristic of the materials and design of brake pads used in this high-performance
brake system that a brake squeal/squeak noise may result.

Repair Procedure

1. Confirm a squeal/squeak noise is present from either the front or rear brake pads.
NOTE
 A brake squeal/squeak noise may be more likely at slower speeds or in reverse.
 Use ChassisEAR™ if necessary to help identify the source of the noise.

Is a squeal/squeak noise present from either the front or rear brake pads?


YES — Continue to step 2.



NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.

2. Remove BOTH the front and rear brake pad kits.
NOTICE
Regardless of the location of the squeal/squeak noise, BOTH front and rear brake pad kits
MUST be replaced to effectively address the condition.

A. Remove the front brake pad kits.
