Summary
SERVICE BULLETIN M1508 (REV C): 2009-2025 TRIKE PLATFORM - REVERSE MOTOR. PURPOSE: Revision C. To inform dealers of a running change for the new reverse motor (Part No. 83388-09C) for Trike models. As of January 28, 2020 all Trike platform vehicles will be manufactured using the new reverse motor. The new reverse motor will be used to replace reverse motor assemblies (Part No. 83388-09, 83388-09A,83388-09B) that have failed diagnostics. Refer to Table 3. This motor contains several improvements for better motor durability. A new procedure has been added, Refer to PINION EXTENDS BUT REVERSE MOTOR STALLS OR SPINS SLOWLY. REV C: Update Removal and Assembly (R&I) of the Solenoid. Updated: DISASSEMBLE, ASSEMBLE and Install Electrical Kit.

Disconnect reverse control solenoid [246] and inspect
connections.
a. Yes. Repair short to voltage on (TN/R) wire.

b. No. Replace RCM.
4.
With reverse drive button not pushed and using TEST
CONNECTOR KIT (PART NUMBER: HD-41404), test
voltage between [248] and ground.
5. Electrical Kit Test

Disconnect [249A] and [249B].

Is battery voltage present?

Test for continuity reverse motor solenoid terminals [249A]
and [249B].

Turn IGN OFF.

Disconnect RCM [245] and inspect connections.

Turn IGN ON.

With the reverse drive button not pushed, test voltage
between [246B] terminal 1 and ground.
Verify conditions are correct to enable reverse. See
Reverse Motor System Diagnostics.

a. Yes. Solid "R". Go to Step 3.

Turn IGN OFF.
b. Yes. Flashing "R". Go to Step 16.

Test resistance between reverse motor mounting bolt [253]
and ground.

Is resistance less than 0.5 Ω?
c. No. See Indicator Lamp Diagnostics.
3. RCM Circuit Test
a. Yes, without electrical kit. Go to Step 6.
NOTE
Raise the rear wheels off the ground by placing jack stands
under the rear axle before performing any diagnostic tests that
require pushing the reverse button.
b. Yes, with electrical kit. Go to Step 23.
c. No. Clean/repair mounting bolts and mounting surface.
6. Reverse Motor Solenoid Test

With reverse drive button pressed and using TEST
CONNECTOR KIT (PART NUMBER: HD-41404), test
voltage between reverse motor solenoid [248] and ground.

Is voltage greater than 10 V?
1.
Perform reverse motor solenoid test. See Reverse Motor
Testing.

Did reverse motor solenoid pass test?
a. Yes. Replace reverse motor.
