The following DTC (static/intermittent) and symptom code is logged in the transmission control module -J217-,

(address word 0002):

* DTC P284D00: Shift Fork "A" Unrequested Movement (symptom: 20839)

Service

Try to reproduce the customer complaint (based on the description/cause of the issue), so that it can be
clearly assigned to this TSB. The following repair must only be carried out if all the criteria (model/type,
chassis number, engine/motor, gearbox code, PR number(s), part number, software version, code, etc.)
apply exactly. Otherwise, this solution will not eliminate the problem and repeat repairs may be necessary.
In such a case, the warranty claim may be rejected, and the cost of the parts may be charged back.

A combined software update for various control units must be performed on this vehicle.
Please perform the software update described in TSB 2079690, 00 Combined software update 03.10.00/C

lf Guided Fault Finding cannot determine a cause for the fault, perform the following routine to improve

shift quality:

* Select the following: Guided Function -> 0002 - Analysis functions transmission -> 2- Calibration of Gear

Position Distance Sensors -G487- to -G490- as control measurement.

* Repeat calibration of the gear position sensors 10x.

Manual. Claims are subject to review or audit by Audi Warranty.

Additional Information

The engine control unit software must be updated on this vehicle. Inform the customer about the software update
and ask them whether the engine control unit has been altered by chip tuning. Explain to the customer that updating
the engine control unit software renders the chip tuning ineffective. In certain circumstances, the engine control unit
may even be damaged by the software update. Ask the customer to clarify with the tuning company in advance
whether a software update is possible. Damage to the engine control unit resulting from chip tuning cannot be billed
to AUDI AG under warranty. Please refer the customer to the Warranty and Maintenance booklet to learn more
about how chip tuning can impact warranty coverage. Explain to the customer that neither AUDI AG nor your
company can be held responsible for damage caused by the software update or for damage that occurs as the
result of not having the update performed. Make a note to this effect on the order before it is signed by the customer.
