Summary
On some vehicles, the front door glass run channel may interfere with the rear door garnish. Since the front door glass run channel is not fixed strongly enough to the door, repetition of door operation may result in interference and damage to the rear door rubber seal. 1. When the front door glass is closed, the glass run-channel may be forced to move to the B-pillar side. 2. Under extremely hot climate conditions, the glass run-channel may expand to the B-pillar side. To eliminate this concern, the fixing force and durability of the glass run channel against thermal expansion and vibration has been improved. The shapes of the front and rear glass run channels and the rear garnish lip have been changed to prevent interference.

DESCRIPTION
On some vehicles, the front door glass run channel may interfere with the rear door garnish. Since the front door glass
run channel is not fixed strongly enough to the door, repetition of door operation may result in interference and damage
to the rear door rubber seal.
1. When the front door glass is closed, the glass run-channel may be forced to move to the B-pillar side.
2. Under extremely hot climate conditions, the glass run-channel may expand to the B-pillar side.

To eliminate this concern, the fixing force and durability of the glass run channel against thermal expansion and vibration
has been improved. The shapes of the front and rear glass run channels and the rear garnish lip have been changed to
prevent interference.
Customers experiencing this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer concern.
NOTE:
• Replace the opposite side too, even if there is no damage.
• For this repair, the beltline molding does not need to be removed/replaced, even though the workshop manual
instructs to do so.
2 Adhesive Preparation: Procure an adhesive locally that is suitable for bonding rubber, metal, and plastic (example:
Mazda
Seam Sealer, P/N: 0000-77-RPKT-M6).

NOTE: There is no specification for the viscosity of the adhesive as long as it is suitable for the above materials, there is
no restriction on the product.
3. Remove the front and rear door glass run channels and rear garnish according to the instructions on MGSS online. If
side window deflectors are installed, remove them too.

4. Clean and degrease the front door and a modified front door glass run-channel:
NOTE: Refer to the following figures for the degreasing areas (1, 2 and 3).

a) Clean and degrease the lower surface of the glass run-channel on the door side over a slightly wider area than
where the adhesive will be applied (approx. 200mm or more from edge of door).

b) For degreasing the glass run-channel side, soak a cloth or similar material in the degreasing agent and clean the
inside of the groove (approx. 200mm or more from edge of door).
5. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the front door (lower surface of the glass run-channel mounting area).
NOTE:
• Immediately wipe off any adhesive that gets on unintended areas.
• Check the usage instructions and precautions for the adhesive.

6. Install the front glass run channels with modified parts according to the instructions on MGSS online:
• FRONT DOOR GLASS RUN-CHANNEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
7. Clean and degrease the door and the modified rear door glass run-channel:
NOTE: Except for the figure below, the cleaning and degreasing procedures are the same as with the front doors.
(1) Degreasing Area
(Approx. 200mm or more from edge of door).
8. Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the rear door (lower surface of the glass run-channel mounting area).
NOTE: Except for the figure below, the adhesive application procedure is the same with the front door.

9. Install the rear glass run channels with modified parts according to the instructions on MGSS online:
• REAR DOOR GLASS RUN-CHANNEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
10. Repair the other side doors according to Steps 3 - 9.
11. After the repair is completed, allow the adhesive to cure for 16 hours.
CAUTION:
• Avoid excessive opening and closing of the door until the adhesive has fully cured, as this may cause the
adhesive position to shift.
• If the customer needs to use the vehicle during this period, explain the above precautions to them before
delivering the vehicle.
12. If there are new side window deflectors, install them too (applicable only to vehicles installed with side window
deflectors.)
NOTE: After installing the door glass run-channel, wait for 5 minutes for initial curing before proceeding with the
installation of the side window deflectors.
13. Verify the repair.
