Description: Some GV80 (JX1) vehicles may have an inoperable horn due to exposure to moisture
from the horizontal mounting position. This bulletin provides instructions to replace and vertically mount
the horns.

NOTE 2: 5 / 60,000 New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW) applies to the part(s) and repair
procedure(s) outlined in this TSB. Prior to beginning any repair work, ensure the part(s) associated
with the repair procedure are within NVLW, observing mileage and Warranty Start Date or date of first
use. If the subject part(s) are out of warranty coverage, the retailer has the option to submit a PA
Request for goodwill consideration on a case-by-case basis.
NOTE 3: If any part(s) not subject to this TSB are found in need of replacement while performing the
repair procedure, and the affected part(s) are still under warranty, the retailer may submit a separate
claim using the same repair order. If the part(s) not subject to this TSB are out of warranty coverage,
the retailer has the option to submit a PA Request for goodwill consideration on a case-by-case basis.
NOTE 4: This TSB includes repair justification photos. Op times include VIN, mileage, and repair
justification photo(s) as outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy.
NOTE 5: The incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center
(WTC) parts return process. Claim is subject to debit if the part is not returned.

NOTICE
Applying the recommended torque to all fasteners is essential to reduce potential issues from
occurring after the service procedure.

NOTICE
Previous horns were horizontally mounted and will REQUIRE the supplied horns to be
VERTICALLY MOUNTED.

Turn OFF the vehicle.

Access the trunk and remove the luggage mat
assembly.

Remove the luggage under cover.

4.

Disconnect the negative (–) battery
terminal.

LH Horn Connector

Using the STUI camera function, take a
photo of the original horizontally mounted
LH horn.
Upload the photo to STUI.
NOTE: If the STUI camera function is
NOT used, write the last 6 digits of the
VIN and date of repair on a piece of
paper to include in the photo.

Disconnect the horn connectors (A).

Remove the bolts then remove the horns.

Cut the 2 LH horn wiring cable ties (B).

Measure 7.9 inches (200 mm) from the horn
connector then secure the wiring using a new
cable tie at the designated location (C).

length and prevents tension to wiring
harness.

Install the new LH horn (D) and connect to the
horn connector.

Cut the RH horn wiring cable tie (E).

Install the new RH horn (F) and connect to the
horn connector.

Information

The supplied horn will be VERTICALLY
MOUNTED.
RH horn wiring can be free as it will not
interfere with other parts.
9.

Reinstall all parts in the reverse order of the
removal process.

10.

Verify the horns for normal operation.

11.

The service procedure is now complete.
