VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN
November 12, 2025
Dear Kia Carnival Hybrid (HEV) Vehicle Owner:
Kia America, Inc. is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign on certain 2025-2026 MY Carnival Hybrid (HEV) vehicles to
update the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) control software to prevent excessive discharging of the 12V
battery by the Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) heater under certain operating conditions. Our records indicate that
you own or lease one of the potentially affected vehicles.
Why is Kia Conducting This Service Campaign?
While the engine is below operating temperature, the PTC Heater is used to provide additional heat to the cabin. In very cold
environments and under high electrical load, the PTC heater may discharge the 12V battery faster than it can charge. If the
12V battery becomes excessively discharged, your vehicle may enter Limp Home Mode with speed temporarily limited to a
maximum of 31mph until the engine reaches normal operating temperature. There are no warning lamps or warning
messages associated with this condition.
What Will Kia Do?
Kia dealers will update the HVAC control software to prevent excessive discharging of the 12V battery by the PTC heater.
This campaign will be performed free of charge at no cost to you.
What Should You Do?

IMPORTANT: Please reference the Temperature Control section of your Owner’s Manual (pages 5-140 for 2025MY
or 5-139 for 2026MY) for more information on starting your vehicle in cold weather conditions.

WARNING: If your vehicle enters Limp Home Mode, reduce electrical load by turning off the heater and defroster. If
the issue continues, pull over and allow the engine to reach normal operating temperature.

Please contact your Kia dealer to schedule a service appointment at your earliest convenience. The time required to
perform the campaign can vary depending on the dealer’s work schedule, so a service appointment is an important way
of minimizing your inconvenience. Please present this notice when you arrive at the Kia dealer.

prepaid “Change of Address/Ownership” card and mail it to us.
