Cause:

The customer complains that the seat ventilation of the front left or right seat surface or backrest surface
do not function.
Possible customer complaints:

Seat ventilation cannot be switched on, the pilot lights go off again after one second
Seat ventilation can be switched on via the seat ventilation button (pilot lights remain on), but a fan does
not switch on
Burning smell under the front seat

Checking and evaluating fault type
Work Procedure: 1

Connect and switch on the battery charger.

Connect P90999 - PIWIS Tester 4, establish operational readiness (switching on ignition) and start the
diagnostic application.

Read out fault memory of the front-end electronics control unit (BCM1), evaluate fault memory entries
and fault pattern and perform the corresponding action.
Information
The fault memory entries are listed using the "Front left seat ventilation" as an example. Depending
on the customer complaint, it involves one or both seat fans of the respective affected seat ventilation
(backrest surface seat fan and / or seat surface seat fan).
Identical entries are also possible for the right side.

Perform recalibration of front seat ventilation
Work Procedure: 1

Recalibrate seat ventilation.
Information
When recalibrating, all seat fans of the seat ventilation are automatically retaught.
1.1

Select 'Front-end electronics (BCM1)' control unit.

1.2

Select the 'Maintenance / repairs' menu.

1.3

Perform function 'Calibration of seat ventilation' according to menu guidance.

Information
If the function of the affected seat fan is restored by the recalibration, the action is ended at this point
(continue with Step 5).
If this is not the case: Continue with Step 2.

Expose affected seat fan.
