Condition
Customer states:
The left or right backrest of the third row of seats can no longer be folded up or down.
The warning lamp on the operating button flashes, signaling a malfunction in the folding mechanism.
Workshop findings:
The customer complaint can be reproduced.
Technical Background
Extensive analyses have shown that the customer has caused this, and it is not a quality-related issue.
External factors or objects on the seat or in the luggage compartment blocked the folding mechanism,
which can potentially cause the mechanism to become blocked/jammed.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
The following measure is intended to help eliminate the mechanical jam/blockage and restore the original state.
This work cannot be invoiced to warranty.
Remove luggage compartment floor (see Figure 1).

For a blocked left backrest, proceed as follows. (See below for right backrest):
Unplug connectors 1 and 2 on the left-hand side (see Figure 3).
1. Motor wire (white, 2-pin)
2. Control motor wire (red, 10-pin)
3. Belt buckle wire (black)

Alternate between applying 12V and GND to pin 1 and pin 2 of motor for left seat backrest (white connector - see
Figure 4).

+ Pin 1 +12V pin 2 GND -> fold down
+ Pin 2 +12V pin 1 GND -> fold up
Repeating this process several times may be required to remove the blockage of the control motors.

Connect pins 3 and 9 in connector T10aax (red) with +12V and pins 4 and 10 in connector T10aax with GND (see
Figure 5). This should unlock the control motor and the seat backrest functionality should be restored.

If necessary, repeat the following steps several times until the mechanism operates properly.
For a blocked right backrest, proceed as follows.
Unplug connectors 1 and 2 on the left-hand side (see Figure 6).
1. Motor wire (black, 2-pin)
2. Control motor wire (black, 10-pin)
