Summary
This Technical Service Bulletin describes the verification and resolution steps for the coolant heater of the battery electric system which may detect high internal temperature and disable the heater, resulting in fault codes 15256, 15262 or 15267 being set.

Issue Summary
Symptom:
Fault Codes indicating coolant heater issue
Fault Code 15256
Fault Code 15262
Fault Code 15267
Root Cause:
High internal temperature detected in the coolant heater.
Coolant heater will be disabled.
Verification
Confirm unit is equipped with Modine coolant heater, Part Number 6449594.
Confirm if one or more of the following Fault Codes are active: 15256, 15262, 15267.
Resolution
Use CAN adapter controller to communicate with coolant heater. Verify shop has CAN adapter controller (Figure 1). Contact Bishal Thapa - Accelera eMobility Service

1. Connect 3-pin CAN adapter controller plug into CAN 3 at the diagnostic port.
2. Plug USB into laptop for power, no software needed.
3. Verify only the coolant heater indicated by the suspected fault code is plugged in and disconnect the low voltage connectors of the other two coolant heaters.
Perform step for a single coolant heater at a time.
4. Key on unit. Do not enable high voltage.
5. Firmly press the button on the CAN adapter controller.
6. Confirm coolant heater fault code is inactive.
7. Repeat Steps 3-6 for each coolant heater that has an issue.
8. If these steps do not fix the coolant heater issue, follow the direction provided by 1-800-CUMMINS, or use the local technical escalation process.
