Condition
This PSS applies only to A5 (FU), and Q5 (GU) variants.

Customer states:
* Transmission position P (parking lock) cannot be selected. The vehicle therefore cannot be locked.
and/or

* — Yellow warning lamp: “Drive system: fault” appears in instrument cluster.

Workshop findings:

The yellow warning message “P cannot be selected. Vehicle may roll away! Please contact workshop” appears in
instrument cluster.

and/or

The following DTC may be stored in the main control unit for drive system and running gear system, J1312 (address
word 812C):

* DTC P1D4700: Parking lock timeout when disengaging — symptom: 262145
and/or

* DTC P288B00: Parking lock actuator, invalid signal — symptom: 401414

This PSS may apply to vehicles still within the new model launch repair authorization period!

— For vehicles still in the launch phase, the workshop must create a ticket with the Technical Assistance
Center (TAC) per the repair authorization, in addition to entering vehicle into PSS. Reference this TSB
in the first line of the TAC case.

* If there are DTCs in the event memory of transmission control unit J217 (diagnostic address 0002), please
read out all measured values and upload the log to GFF paperless. Check if TSB 2078831 applies.

Then proceed as follows regarding the message “P cannot be selected” in the instrument cluster:
* — Please switch off the ignition so that the cluster and the selector lever position display go out.

* Then wait three minutes without operating the vehicle; for example, do not open any of the doors and do not
use the MMI.

* Please start the vehicle in combustion mode, drive forward approx. 20 inches in driving program S and
reverse approx. 20 inches in driving program R (you can also do this in the opposite order).

« Then press the P button on the selector lever.

If this issue occurs multiple times, please open a TAC case. Please provide the original customer statement, the
time at which the complaint occurred, and the workshop findings as exactly as possible.

Please postpone the repair as there is currently no effective repair for the complaint described by the
customer.

1. Explain to the customer that a solution is expected to be available by the end of the fourth quarter of 2025
(subject to change) and that no repairs are necessary at this point.

2. Donot replace any components for this condition since this will not resolve the customer’s concern.

3. Create a PSS record in the PSS application through the Pending Service Solutions (PSS) link in AccessAudi
(under Related Links >> Service).

the vehicle.
