DESCRIPTION
While driving on gravel or dusty roads, dust accumulates at the lower inner edge of the door garnish. When the rear door
is opened, the dust may be blown up and enter the cabin, adhering to the seats and the floor. This is caused by a large
gap at the lower part of the boundary between the rear door and the front door, and air containing dust and/or sand is
sucked up into the gap, accumulating at the lower edge of the rear door garnish while driving. To eliminate this concern,
a mass production change is under study.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
NOTE: This repair procedure is an interim countermeasure. After a mass production change is implemented, the repair
procedure will be updated.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
To assist with the steps outlined below, please refer to the following training video:
Training video

1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Attach the protectors (urethane pads, deflectors and protectors) to both sides of the designated locations according to
the following steps.
NOTE: The following figures show the right side. The left side is symmetrical.

1a. Clean and degrease the deflector's attachment surface of the door.

1b. Position the deflector (10) as shown in the figure.
NOTE: Deflector (10) is the same for left/right sides.

1c. Drill two 0.24 in (6 mm) diameter holes in the door at the positions of the holes for the fasteners as shown in
the following figure of step 1d.

1d. Fasten the deflector at the door with the fasteners (15) (Qty: 2 (per side, 4 total)).

2a. Remove the rear door fender arch garnish by removing the 3 fasteners as shown in the figures.

Remove the fastener.

2b. Attach the urethane pads (11-14) to the rear door fender arch garnish as shown in the figures.
NOTE: Before attaching the pads, clean and degrease the attachment surface of the garnish.
Urethane Pad:

Attachment Location:
Avoiding the protrusion of (A) and (B), attach the urethane
pad (11-14).

Attachment Cross Section:
Attach the urethane pad so that it wraps around the edge
of the garnish.

2c. Attach the urethane pad (5) to the rear bottom corner of the rear door as shown in the figures.
NOTE: Before attaching the pads, clean and degrease the attachment surface of the garnish.

4a. Partially peel back the weatherstrip, pull out the three fasteners from the bottom that fasten the rear fender
arch weatherstrip, and then partially remove the weatherstrip.

4c. Lift the stone guard deflector, and then attach the urethane pad (1) as shown in the figures.
NOTE: Before the attachment, clean and degrease the attachment surface.

4d. Install the stone guard deflector (A), the screws, the cover (B) and the weatherstrip (C) in reverse order of
removal.

After the attachment has been completed, the urethane pad (1) and the stone guard deflector (A) will overlap.
4e. Lift the weatherstrip (A) and attach the urethane pad (7) as shown in the figures.
