Purpose

This document is to advise customers, OEM partners, and field service agents that Furrion Air Conditioners
are impacted by a federally-mandated refrigerant transition. Following federally-mandated restrictions,
Lippert/Furrion has phased out production of systems using R410A and transitioned to producing R32
refrigerant systems. When replacing components, special attention needs to be given to ensure only

compatible components are installed.

Read and understand this document in its entirety. Replacing components within a system that
are not compatible with one another may result in loss of functionality, property damage, and/or
personal injury.

Safety

NOTE: Furrion R32 rooftop units are only compatible (when using conversion kits) to other brands of
controllers and thermostats which are also rated for use with R32 refrigerant. Lippert/Furrion is not

responsible for determining the compatibility of controllers and thermostats which are not provided
by Lippert/Furrion.

Procedure

When replacing components within an air conditioning system (including roof top units, controllers, and
thermostats) be sure to examine the label currently installed on the roof top unit (Fig. 1) to determine the
type of refrigerant used within the system.

Due to similarities in the appearances of existing products used in A/C systems, components can easily be
mismatched creating compatibility and operational concerns. This can occur while servicing an existing
R410A A/C system or during installation of a new R32 A/C system. When servicing or replacing A/C
components, it is essential to verify all parts are rated for compatibility with one another and also rated for
the specific refrigerant in use within the system.

Components rated for R410A may never be used with a rooftop unit that utilizes R32 Refrigerant.

R32 components are designed to be compatible with existing R410A refrigerant systems, however, the
controller and the thermostat must both be of the same version as the refrigerant system.
+ Example: an R32 controller requires an R32 thermostat.

Controllers and Thermostats must be of the same rating to be compatible.
+ Example: A controller from an R410A system may be replaced with R32 rated controller, but when doing

so the thermostat must also be replaced with an R32 rated thermostat for proper compatibility and
operation of the A/C system.

R32 controllers must be mated with R32 thermostats.
R410A controllers are only compatible with R410A thermostats.

When replacing the rooftop A/C unit in an R410A system with an R32 rooftop A/C unit, the controller and
the thermostat MUST ALSO be replaced with R32-rated components.

Lippert/Furrion is not responsible for determining the compatibility of controllers and thermostats which
are not provided by Lippert/Furrion.
