2.0 Auxiliary Pump Pressure Spikes

Purpose:

This bulletin provides instructions for installing a longer hydraulic hose between the auxiliary pump and the
hydraulic manifold load sense port, and a straight fitting to the hydraulic manifold load sense port to reduce
pressure spikes. The longer hose provides additional hydraulic fluid volume between the auxiliary pump and
hydraulic manifold and acts as an accumulator for the load sense auxiliary pump function.

• All procedures outlined in the bulletin must be performed by skilled service personnel. Refer to the product
service manual for descriptions of maintenance procedures.

Serious personal injury may result from hot
oil. When you have completed working on the
hydraulic systems, thoroughly clean any
spilled oil from the equipment. Do not spill
any hydraulic fluids on the ground. Clean any
hydraulic fluids from your skin as soon as
you have completed your maintenance and
repairs. Dispose of used oil and filters as
required by law.

Never remove hydraulic pipes/tubing, fittings,
or adapters until all pressure has been
relieved from the hydraulic system.

Perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout
procedure. If your company does not have a
Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA
1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as
appropriate.

Procedure:

Lockout/Tagout
1. Park vehicle on a flat level surface, block truck tires, and perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure.
If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined
Space as appropriate.
2. The vehicle’s BATTERY DISCONNECT switch is located on the left-hand side of the battery box. Use the
battery disconnect switch when performing any maintenance so the vehicle cannot accidentally be started.
a. Turn the battery disconnect switch (Figure A, Item 1) counterclockwise so the hole on the switch aligns
with the hole in the bracket (Figure A, Item 2).
b. Install the safety lockout device ring (Figure B, Item 1) through the holes on the battery disconnect switch
and the bracket.
c. Install a padlock (Figure B, Item 2) onto the safety lockout device ring, lock it, and put the key in your
pocket. If more than one person is working on the vehicle, each person must install his or her own padlock.

3. Open engine cover hatch.
4. Locate auxiliary pump and hydraulic manifold. See Figure 1.
5. Disconnect and remove 26 inch hydraulic hose (#3095) from auxiliary pump and hydraulic manifold fittings.
See Figure 1. Hydraulic hose will not be reused.

6. Loosen and remove straight fittings from hydraulic manifold and auxiliary pump where hydraulic hose (#3095)
was connected. See Figure 2. Fittings will not be reused.
7. Install straight fittings (1533480) in hydraulic manifold and auxiliary pump where fittings were removed in
Step 6. See Figure 2. Final tighten pump straight fitting to 23 ft. lbs. and hydraulic manifold straight fitting to 15
ft. lbs.
8. Install orifice fitting (A001P053) in hydraulic manifold straight fitting. See Figure 2. Use a backing wrench to
hold straight fitting and final tighten orifice fitting to 21 ft. lbs.
9. Go to Step 11.

Install orifice fitting (A001P053) on hydraulic manifold where hydraulic hose was disconnected in Step 5.
See Figure 3. Final tighten orifice fitting to 15 ft lbs.

Connect one end of new hose (A001P054) to hydraulic manifold fitting. See Figure 4. Final tighten hose
end to 21 ft. lbs.
12.
Make counterclockwise loops in new hose (A001P054) and connect other end of hose to fitting on
auxiliary pump where hose was disconnected in Step 5. See Figure 4. Final tighten hose end to 21 ft. lbs.
13.
Secure loops in hose (A001P054) to auxiliary pump hose #3010 and #3012 with cable ties (A000C018).
See Figure 4. Make sure hose does not rub on anything when cable ties are final tightened.

Close and secure engine cover hatch.

Remove lockout/tag and wheel chocks.

Reference information bulletin FDM-IB-007 for information on checking and adjusting the auxiliary pump
pressure setting.

Reimbursement of Costs

Affected units shall be updated using the customer’s own qualified service technicians.

Parts Reimbursement

Parts and ground shipping will be reimbursed to the customer. Parts necessary for this repair must be ordered
from McNeilus Parts at 888-686-7278.
Claims are to be submitted through the normal warranty claim system. Claims must be received within 30 days
of the repair. Claims must include the serial number of the truck, the customer asset number, and this bulletin’s
number.
Customers that purchased and installed this kit prior to release of this campaign can submit for reimbursement.
Claims must include the serial number of the truck, the customer asset number, and kit proof of purchase.

Deadline

If required, this service update should be performed at the earliest opportunity. For parts reimbursement, a
warranty claim form with proof of component installation must be submitted by December 31, 2026.
