THIS REPAIR IS REMOTE SOFTWARE UPGRADE (RSU) FRIENDLY
Please perform the procedure outlined in this Service Information on all affected vehicles before customer
delivery. In the event the customer has already taken delivery of the vehicle, please perform the procedure
the next time the vehicle is in the shop if the campaigns have a status of remedy available. Otherwise,
please release the vehicle.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Vehicles which require this campaign to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR,
AWP, Campaign Summary, or Warranty Vehicle Inquiry.
Please make sure you check your dealer inventory as soon as possible. You can see a list of affected
vehicles in Inventory Campaign Details (ICD) under ROSS.
For centers that qualify, this repair is eligible to be performed via Mobile Assistance.
SITUATION
The parking brake actuator has not been wound correctly so that it cannot be applied or released.
Check Control message “Parking brake failed. When parking, secure the vehicle against rolling away. Must
be checked by the Service Partner.”
The vehicle is still held by the unaffected side and the transmission lock.
CAUSE
Manufacturing error of the parking brake actuator (aka EMF, electromechanical emergency brake).
CORRECTION
Replace the right parking brake actuator.
PROCEDURE
Replace the right parking brake actuator as per REP 34 52 162 Removing and installing/replacing the EMF
actuator.
