Dear Cottrell Equipment Owner:
Please find enclosed Service Bulletin #SB032 which contains inspection instructions to
determine if the winch bracket on your Cottrell 2CarDU has the proper gap between the bracket
and the gear housing of the winch, along with replacement instructions in the event the bracket
needs to be replaced. The inspection must be performed by a Cottrell employee/representative,
a Cottrell Authorized Warranty Repair Facility, or another reputable repair shop approved in
advance by Cottrell. Please have the inspection performed as soon as possible.
Upon inspection, if the bracket needs to be replaced on your equipment, please have the
replacement performed as set forth in the enclosed instructions. Once the replacement has been
completed, please email Cottrell to report it is complete with an invoice that states “Service
Bulletin #032” as the description of the work performed, along with the particular VIN or VINs
on which the replacement was performed, to the following email address:

This inspection and replacement (if applicable) can be performed at the Cottrell Service Center
in Gainesville, Georgia, or at any Authorized Cottrell Warranty Repair Facility. You can
access a list of Authorized Cottrell Warranty Repair Facilities at www.cottrelltrailers.com
under “Find a Dealer.” If you wish to use a reputable repair shop other than Cottrell or its
Authorized Warranty Repair Facilities, please request approval from Cottrell in writing in
advance of the work being performed.
Cottrell will reimburse labor for the replacement of this bracket at the maximum rate of onehalf (0.5) of an hour. Requests for reimbursement can be submitted with receipts to the above
email address or handled directly through the repair facility using normal warranty procedures.
Please have this inspection performed and replace the bracket (if applicable) as soon as possible
using the enclosed instructions. Should you have any questions concerning this Service
Bulletin, please contact the Cottrell Warranty Department at the email address above or the
phone number indicated below. This Service Bulletin shall remain open for one (1) calendar
year.

Service Bulletin #SB032

Subject: Winch Bracket
Models Affected: 2CarDU
It is possible that the winch bracket (shown in blue below) may contact the winch housing
when operating the winch clutch if there is insufficient gap. Such contact could prevent the
winch clutch from operating properly.
Instructions:
Inspect the bracket indicated in blue in image 1 below to ensure it is at least 1/8” from the
gear housing. If the winch bracket is closer than 1/8” to the housing, remove the old bracket
by removing the three (3) bolts shown in image 2 below. Then install the new bracket
provided by Cottrell using the same three (3) bolts as shown in image 2. (Note: if damage
is present or occurs to the bolts when replacing the bracket, new bolts should be used with
the new bracket). When the replacement is complete, operate the clutch handle assembly
per the enclosed Ramsey Winch instructions to ensure proper operation.
