Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit a carpet that is loose or torn near the
scuff plate trim panel. This may be due to the carpet tearing at or near the retainer hole.
Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to
repair the carpet tear.

Service Procedure
1. Remove the scuff plate trim panel from the vehicle to expose the loose carpet area. Refer to the WSM, Section
501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation - Removal and Installation for the scuff plate trim panel. (Figures 1-2)

2. Place the carpet pad in a convenient position, use push pins as guides to align the carpet pad with the carpet.
(Figure 3)

3. Using a suitable stapler, apply staples to firmly attach the carpet pad to the carpet. (Figure 4)
Staples should only be applied under the area covered by the scuff plate trim panel to make sure the staples are
not visible.

4. Once the carpet pad is securely attached, install the scuff plate trim panel and make sure the staples are covered.
