Summary
Some 2025 model year Sienna Hybrid
vehicles equipped with the advanced rear seat reminder system may exhibit one or both of the following conditions: •A “Rear Seat Reminder Malfunction – Visit Your Dealer” message on the Multi-information Display (MID). •Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U117487 (Lost Communication with Cabin Occupant Recognition Sensor Missing) present in the main body ECU. The cabin object recognition sensor assembly logic has been modified to address these conditions.

Introduction
Some 2025 model year Sienna Hybrid vehicles equipped with the advanced rear seat reminder
system may exhibit one or both of the following conditions:
A “Rear Seat Reminder Malfunction – Visit Your Dealer” message on the Multi-information
Display (MID).
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) U117487 (Lost Communication with Cabin Occupant
Recognition Sensor Missing) present in the main body ECU.
The cabin object recognition sensor assembly logic has been modified to address these
conditions. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address the conditions.

This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
Does the vehicle exhibit one or both of the following conditions?
A “Rear Seat Reminder Malfunction – Visit Your Dealer” message on the MID.
DTC U117487 (Lost Communication with Cabin Occupant Recognition Sensor Missing)
present in the main body ECU.
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Use GTS+ to confirm if the cabin object recognition sensor assembly calibration has
been updated.
Is the calibration ID listed in GTS+ the latest cabin object recognition sensor
assembly calibration?
YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
NO — Continue to step 3.
3. Disconnect the cooling fans.
A. Disconnect the cooling fan
motor connector.
B. Rotate the lever while pushing the lock
and disconnect the cooling fan motor
connector, as shown in Figure 1.

Repair Procedure (continued)
4. Flash reprogram the cabin object recognition sensor assembly.
NOTE
The battery diagnostic tool MUST be used in Power Supply Mode to maintain battery voltage at
13.5V while flash reprogramming the vehicle.
For details on how to use the battery diagnostic tool, refer to the DCA-8000 Instruction Manual
located at TIS – Diagnostics – Tools & Equipment – Battery Diagnostics.
Follow the procedures outlined in T-SB-0021-25, GTS+ ECU Flash Reprogramming With
Security Signature, and flash reprogram the cabin object recognition sensor assembly with the
NEW calibration file update.
5. Reconnect the cooling fans.
A. Connect the cooling fan
motor connector.

6. Using GTS+, clear ANY DTCs and test-drive the vehicle to confirm normal operation and that
the conditions are no longer present.
