Description
This Campaign is being issued to update the TMS Inverter Calibration on certain BES CM2450 EV107B units currently in the field. This Campaign authorizes certified
technicians to update the TMS Inverter to the latest calibration.
Action
In order to qualify for repair under this field action, a drive train system:
1. will be covered Regardless of coverage status, and
2. must show as OPEN on QuickServe® Online for this field action.
Note : The SSN list is attached for reference.
After verifying that the engine meets the above requirements, perform the following actions:
1. Call 1-800-CUMMINS
for the latest TMS inverter calibration and Accelera service kit.
2. Update the TMS inverter with the latest calibration (PN6311669 PS47046106.dcf), or later.
Note : This calibration is different than the one for Campaign 2566. Please refer to Attachment B for detailed instructions on updating instructions.

Notes
If not covered, use electrical tape to cover the wire leads of the Sevcon Flash Harness.
This was provided for powering the Sevcon inverter with an external power supply. Do not use this
op on. Instead, we use one of the water pump connec ons to power the inverter instead, described
later in this sec on.
Cau on: Failure to cover these leads may result in accidental shor ng the low-voltage power supply.

Ac ons: Connec ng to the Sevcon Inverter
1. Combine the IXXAT CAN Module, the 3’ or 20’ 3-Pin Deutsch to 9-Pin D-Sub Adapter with YConnector, and the Sevcon Flashing Harness. (Fig. 1)
2. If not covered, use electrical tape to cover the wire leads of the Sevcon Flash Harness.

3. Disconnect the low-voltage connector from the Thermal Management System (TMS) Sevcon
inverter. Connect the same connector from the Sevcon flashing harness. (Fig. 2)

Ac ons: Flashing the Sevcon Inverter
1. Login in to the laptop and open the DVT application.
2. Once open, ensure that the right baud rate is selected. (Fig.4)
a. By default, this is typically 1 Mbit/sec.
b. The baud rate needed is 500kbit/sec.
c. Once selected, CAN messages should start appearing in the log (CAN
Window).

3. For the first me this so ware is used with the inverter, a pop-up should open asking if
you would like to create an EDS file. Click yes/OK.
a. This file acts as the “translator” for CAN messages. (Fig. 5)
b. Allow the process to finish loading before con nuing (Fig. 6)
c. If this pop-up is exited without clicking the right value, click “ping” on the main
window. This will rerun the handshaking process, and the pop-up should reappear.

4. Once the EDS file is created, several bu ons will appear on the UI on the middle-to-right-side of
the screen. Click on “Controller Se ngs”, then “Send DCF to unit”. (Fig. 7)
a. This file is the calibra on for the inverter.
b. If a pop-up occurs asking if you are ok with overwri ng t he exis ng DCF file, accept, as
this is the inten on.
c. Select the DCF file to upload.
d. Wait for the process to finish before con nuing. (Fig. 8)
e. A er loading, the so ware should be flashed.

1. Download the inverter calibration. (Fig. 9)
a. To do so, click on "Controller Settings", then "Save DCF from unit".
b. Save the file to a known location.
c. Wait for the process to finish before countinuing.

2. To verify that the system is flashed properly, click on “Offline Calibra· on”, then
“Edit DCF file in helper” (Fig. 10)
a. Open the DCF file downloaded in Step 1.
b. Once opened, click on the “Local Motor Limits” bu on. (Fig. 11)
i. “Maximum Motor Speed” should now read 3000 rpm and
“Motor Overspeed Protec· on” should now read 3100 rpm.
