Complaint
- Engine diagnosis indicator lamp (MIL) lights up.
- Current and saved fault code in DCCU and powertrain control unit (PTCU):
P2E9873 The position sensor of the external socket flap of the vehicle socket (direct current) indicates an electrical
fault. The actuator does not open.
- The vehicle starts or charges normally and without any problems.

Cause
Software in the control unit "N116/5 - DC charge-connection unit (DCCU)".

Remedy
For model series 167, 254 (Only for USA):

Remedy is available:
Update software for N116/5 (DC charging control unit box) and perform SCN coding of N116/5.
Once the SCN coding has been updated, the engine diagnosis indicator lamp (MIL) is no longer actuated with
this fault code.

For Model Series 214:

Ensure N116/5 DCDC has latest software.
Perform SCN coding of the PTCU controller.
If MIL is still active, please open TIPS case and send to Body/Chassis/Entertainment inbox.

For other model series:

Work on the SW remedy for N116/5 (DC charging control unit box) is in progress.

Once the software is available, update the software for N116/5 and perform SCN coding of N116/5.
If this problem occurs, the vehicle start or charging functions are normally not affected; therefore do not replace
any parts.
Replacing parts does not solve this problem.
