Slide-Out may not fully retract at the bottom, causing water intrusion.
Concern:
Relocate rollers (if needed), install nylon rub bar on bed base

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
Visually inspect the slide mechanism for broken screws on the exterior of the unit.
1) If broken screws are present- contact Grand Design customer service.
2) If no broken screws are present- Proceed to Section 1.

SECTION 1 –INSPECT THE SLIDE ROLLERS
1) Extend the slide until it is 12-18” from the closed position
2) Inspect under the slide to see if slide rollers are in line with the seatbelt brackets, which could
keep the slide from closing properly (Figure 1.2).
3) If the rollers are correct, proceed to Section 3.
4) The 2 rollers that could make contact are the front roller and the 2nd from the rear before the step
up.
5) If the rollers contact the seatbelt brackets, proceed to section 2.

SECTION 2 –REPAIR THE SLIDE ROLLERS
1) With tape or a paint pen, mark the bottom wipe seal where the rollers will move to avoid the seat
belt brackets.
2) Retract the slide.
3) Auto-Level the unit.
4) Extend the slide until it is 12-18” from the closed position.
5) Remove the slide topper (part # 810712)
a. Insert a retaining pin in each end of the topper (Figure 2.5a).
b. Remove the large silver screw on both ends (Figure 2.5b).
c. Pull the topper out of its bracket and place it on the roof of the slide box (Figure 2.5c).

6) Open the slide until it is 3-4” from fully extended.
7) Remove the interior fascia (part # 641306).
8) Remove the black board (part # 640057).
9) Remove the metal toe kick (part # 641415).
10) FULLY SUPPORT THE SLIDE BOX WITH A FORKLIFT, SAWHORSE OR OTHER SUPPORT
MECHANISM.
11) Remove the front and rear interior SlimRack columns. Save the 3 screws unique to the SlimRack
system that links the interior and exterior columns together.
12) Score the seal on the outside edge of the front SlimRack column to avoid paint damage.
13) Remove the front SlimRack column screws. REMINDER: MAKE SURE THE SLIDE IS SUPPORTED
BY A FORKLIFT, SAWHORSE OR OTHER SUPPORT MECHANISM BEFORE REMOVING THE
SLIMRACK COLUMN SCREWS.
14) Use a putty knife to separate the column from the sidewall.
15) Push out on the front side of the slide until all the rollers can be adjusted; DO NOT fully remove the
slide.
16) Relocate the rollers (part # 641226) that are in line with the seat belt bracket, caulk the previous
roller screw holes (Figure 2.16).

17) Push the slide back into position.
18) Apply new foam tape (part # 570844) to the exterior slide column.
19) Resecure the front slide column, #12 screws (part # 961144) should be used. The rear column
screws can be replaced with #12’s as well.
20) Reinstall the inner slide columns.
21) Glue the top wipe seal to the side wipe on the upper left-hand corner of the slide.
22) Re-seal the exterior slide out columns.
23) Reinstall the black board (part # 640057).
24) Reinstall the fascia (part # 641306) using 505 adhesive (part # 961817).
25) Reinstall the metal toe kick (part # 641415). To avoid linoleum damage, check that it is 1-7/8” tall,
not 2-1/4”.
26) Reinstall the slide topper

SECTION 3- GLIDE BAR REPAIR

Remove hinge (part # 662133) from bed base
Remove bed base flip up felt board piece (Should be 14 ¼” wide)
Remove felt (part # 693301) (if possible) from the piece. (Figure 3.1)
Cut down the ½” plywood (part # 620084) under the felt into two pieces. The two pieces should
measure 14 ¼”x 1 3/4” and 14.25” x 55 ¾”.
5) Cut the hinge down to 55” to be slightly shorter than the long felt board piece.
6) The larger piece needs to be rewrapped completely in felt, the small piece can just be wrapped on
top and around the sides.
7) Add nylon strap (No part number) to larger felt board piece.

8) Using #8-1” screws, reinstall bed boards (Figure 3.2)
9) Cut Two Boyd Rub bar pieces (part # 550446) to 36” in length
10) Using #8- ¾” screws, prepare to Install Rub bars on both sides of the bed base.
11) The rub-bar on the wardrobe side of the bed should be installed directly above the rear bed base
end wall. (Figure 3.3)
12) The rub bar on the pantry side of the bed should be installed directly above the front bed base end
wall. (Figure 3.4)
13) Verify that flip up bed top operates properly
14) Operate slide to verify that slide seals properly
