SERVICE ACTION: RIGHT FRONT BODY PANEL
SEALANT APPLICATION (SA607)

This bulletin provides instructions to add body sealant to the right front panel seam area, which may not have
sufficient sealant applied during assembly on certain 2025MY Niro HEV, PHEV, and EV (SG2 P/HEV, EV)
vehicles produced between October 31, 2024, and December 13, 2024. The affected vehicles may exhibit
water leak intrusion into the cabin (front passenger seat) floor area. Follow the procedure outlined in this
publication to add additional sealant to the right front body panel seam. Before starting, verify that the vehicle
is included in the list of affected VINs.

Body Seam (yellow area)

 NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the
warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will
require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on KDealer+ (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty
Coverage Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are
available on KDealer+ (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall → Recall VIN → Select Report),
which includes a list of affected vehicles.

SUBJECT:

SST Preparation:
You’ll need the following parts:
•

Nozzle Assembly (A)

•

Camera Attachment Jigs (B)

•

Endoscope / Camera (C)

 NOTICE
SST KQ841 SG002 includes two (2)
different camera diameter jig sizes.
Attach the appropriate size for the
endoscope/camera end in use.

1.

Attach the camera attachment jig (B) to the
center of the nozzle assembly (A) tube curve
area (as shown) and secure the jig by
tightening the bottom screw (E).

2.

Align the endoscope (C) camera end to the
marked line (D) on the nozzle assembly (A)
tube end.
Note: Adjust the camera angle towards the
tube end and tighten the screw (F).

3.

Secure the endoscope (C) camera end onto the
attachment jig (B) by carefully tightening the
plastic screw (G).

CAUTION
To prevent damage to the endoscope,
be sure not to overtighten the camera
end retaining screw (G) on the jig.

SUBJECT:

You’ll need the following parts:

Sealant Cartridge/Tube (H)

•

Sealant Cartridge Opener (I)

Turn the cartridge tube (H) upside down and
align the threaded end to the smaller puncture
opener (I).

4b.

Puncture the seal on the cartridge nozzle by
pressing the sealant tube (H) downward onto
the cartridge opener (I).

4c.

Turn the cartridge tube (H) upright and align
the bottom of the cartridge to the larger
puncture opener (I).

4d.

Open the metal bottom securing cap of the
cartridge (H) by applying firm downward
pressure onto the cartridge opener (I).

Attach the assembled nozzle assembly (A)
(with

endoscope)

onto

the

sealant

cartridge/tube (H) by carefully threading the
nozzle assembly end clockwise.

6.

Mount the sealant cartridge (with the attached
assembled nozzle and endoscope) into the
caulking gun (J).

SUBJECT:

Repair Procedure:
1.

Remove the passenger right front wheel/tire
assembly.

2.

Remove the passenger right front wheel guard
cover by referring to Body (Interior and
Exterior) > Body Side Molding > Front Wheel
Guard > Removal and Installation in the
applicable Shop Manual on KGIS.

3.

Locate the outlined body work area by
accessing in through the opening area shown.

4.

Using a clean towel and degreaser/cleaner,
reach in through the panel opening and wipe
the outlined work area clean from dirt/debris.

5.

Insert the nozzle assembly end in through the
panel

opening

as

shown

and

use

the

endoscope camera screen to view the seam
work area.

SUBJECT:

 NOTICE
Take a photo of the area before starting the sealing application. After completing the sealing, take
another photo and upload both to the system.
6.

Apply a generous amount of body sealant over
the existing vertical body seam area (top to
bottom) starting from the alignment embossed
body line.

7.

Apply another generous amount of sealant
across the horizontal lower bottom seam (left
to right) at least 2” inches from the center to
both left and right side as shown.

Refer to the OK image shown. Sealant was
applied covering over the existing seam.

2”

Refer to the NG image shown. Body sealant
was not applied over the body seam area.

8a.

Immediately clean the SST after use with shop
air and brake parts cleaner. Seal both ends of
the nozzle to prevent the sealant from
hardening inside the tube.

8b.

Seal the unused cartridge using masking tape
to prevent sealant from hardening.

9.

Install all removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.
