Introduction
Some 2021 model year ES 250 and 2019 – 2021 model year ES 300h and UX 200 vehicles
equipped with an A25A-FKS, A25A-FXS, or M20A-FKS engine may exhibit a condition in which an
“Engine Maintenance Required” message is displayed in the Multi-Information Display (MID).
Additionally, the vehicle will exhibit DTC(s) P268111 (Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Circuit Short
to Ground) and/or P268115 (Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Circuit Short to Battery or Open).
Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

1. Confirm the condition exists.
Is the “Engine Maintenance Required” message displayed in the MID?
YES — Continue to step 2.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Using GTS+, perform a Health Check and inspect for ANY of the following DTCs:
P268111 – Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Circuit Short to Ground
P268115 – Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Circuit Short to Battery or Open
Does this vehicle contain ANY of the above listed DTCs?
YES — Continue to step 3.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
3. Is the vehicle a UX 200?
YES — Go to step 5.
NO — Continue to step 4.
4. Is the vehicle an ES 250 or an ES 300h?
YES — Go to step 6.
NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
