TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR (TPMS) OPERATION

OVERVIEW
This Tech Tip will guide you on the operation of the Tire Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) application on a compatible Android device for servicing 2026+ model year
Hino Conventional trucks. For setup information reference TT-25-006.
•

The “target TPMS air pressure setting “ must match the air pressures indicated
on the VIN label.

•

If the Body company complete Vehicle VIN label is not in place, the target TPMS
air pressure setting must match the Incomplete Vehicle Documents with the
vehicle.

SUBJECT VEHICLES
Model Year 2026 and up Hino Conventional vehicles equipped with a Tire Pressure
Monitoring system.

REQUIREMENTS
Smart Diagnostics APP installed on a compatible Android device and HINO SST
211250000 (USB-C cable and Antenna).

TPMS SST PREPARATION
Connect the USB-C cable into the Antenna Trigger tool and the Android Device
with the Smart Diagnostic app. Launch the Smart Diagnostic application.
NOTE: After servicing disconnect the Trigger Tool from the Android device.
The Trigger tool will consume voltage even when not in use.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
System Configuration is used for Resetting the TPMS, Learning after replacing a
Wheel Unit Sensor (WUS), Receiver Control Unit (RCU), Repeater Unit (RPT) or
installing a spare tire.
NOTE: If the connect device screen appears, disconnect the Trigger Tool, lock the
Android device and reconnect the Trigger Tool

TIP: Make a not of the ID and installation position of a WUS/RCU/RPT being
replaced to make setup easier.

Turn the Ignition to the ON position and select the vehicle layout by swiping
left/right to find the configuration. Select Next

Select the “PING” to search for the RCU.
TIP: It is recommended to turn off any other nearby vehicles and move the
antenna closer to the RCU to capture the signal

Verify that the RCU ID is correct once received.

Set the value of tire air pressure and temperature

Tap the Front value
Input the desired pressure
Input the Temp alert value
Select “Done”
Select the Rear value

When Complete hit “Next”

NOTE: Temperature alert value is
set at a default of 212 F
Ping the Repeater (RPT).
NOTE: It is recommended to turn off any other nearby vehicles and move the

2. Verify the received ID is correct

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Search for Wheel Unit Sensors (WUS).
1. The set wheel will be highlighted. Point the
trigger tool at the highlighted wheel 180 degrees
From the valve stem.
Note: Auto-location can be selected on or off, by
default it is in the off position. This setting enables
auto learning of the WUS positions, incorrect
Setting may result with this feature on.
2. Tap the receive button to import the tire ID.

Tap the correct WUS ID and hit “NEXT”
• Ensure the correct sensor is being selected
• ID’s of nearby tires may be read at the same time
• Do not place trigger tool near other sensors
Note: Check the ID and positions of the RCU/RPT/WUS
before the configuration
Note: Wheel Unit Sensors are 180 degrees opposite
of the valve stem

The next wheel will be highlighted

Perform the same process by holding the trigger
tool 180 degrees from the valve of the highlighted
tire
Tap the receive icon

•

Import the WUS for that wheel

•

Select “NEXT” once completed

•

Follow the same process for all wheels as
highlighted

Write Settings
After setting up all of the wheels, tap “WRITE” to write the ID information to the
vehicle.

SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Saving Configuration Data
Configuration data can be saved on the Android device if desired but it is not
required.
1. Tap “STORE/SHARE”
2. Tap “STORE”
3. Rename the file if needed.

TIP: When only changing some of the wheels it is possible to skip ID’s that are not
the target. Tap the Skip Button to move to the next Tire location.

TIP: Check the TPMS Configuration
1. Select “System Configuration”
2. Tap “NEXT” repeatedly, then save without making any changes.
3. Check the current TPMS configuration in the saved log file.

TIRE ROTATION
Tire Rotation is used to set the tire position when rotating tires.
NOTE: if a Wheel Unit Sensor (WUS) is replaced it must be configured using
System Configuration.

NOTE: If the connect device screen appears, disconnect the Trigger Tool, lock the
Android device and reconnect the Trigger Tool

TIRE ROTATION
Tire position can be changed by tapping on the tire location.

Tap tire location to be moved
Tire position is now blank, “removed tire” is now at the bottom of the screen
Tap the installation location
Tire will be moved to this location, exchanged tire will be on the bottom of the
screen
5. Repeat for all tires being moved
6. Tap “NEXT” to write the data when complete and save if desired.

TIRE CHANGE
Tire Change is used to change the final air pressure before delivery or if the
standard air pressure is being changed.

Tap Detect TPMS System with the Key in the ON position.
NOTE: Tap Detect TPMS SYSTEM button within 1 minute of turning the key on. If not
detected turn the key off and then back on to restart detection.

Once loaded, select the front tire air pressure value
Tap the air pressure value
Change the value to the new value
Tap “DONE”.

1. After setting Front and Rear values, tap “NEXT”.
2. Tap “WRITE”.

SYSTEM RESET
“SYSTEM RESET” is used to reset the TPMS system
NOTE: After system reset is performed, the meter will continue to show TPMS error
until configuration is completed.

1. Tap “DETECT TPMS SYSTEM”
2. Tap “RESET”
NOTE: ALL TPMS Settings will be deleted

SYSTEM RESET
SPECIAL USE CASE: System reset can be used to disable all TPMS Alerts
(changing to tires not equipped with Wheel Unit Sensors).
1. Perform system reset
2. Disconnect battery terminals for 2 minutes
3. Reconnect battery terminals, this will reset the meter so no warnings are
displayed.

SETTINGS/ ABOUT
Settings is used for the following:
1. Change the app air pressure display from kPa/bar/PSI
2. Change the app Temperature display from C to F
3. Change the antenna frequency
About is used to display the Application version information
