Title : S13 New Power Steering Tube Support Brackets

DESCRIPTION
This document will guide the user through installation of the new power steering tube support brackets on S13 equipped
vehicles.
The new brackets are released to help prevent the aluminum intake manifold mounting boss from potentially failing.

The customer may hear a light rattling noise under the hood occasionally, or possible power steering tube leaks, or the power
steering tubes may
be found loose or not supported when general engine inspections are performed.

REMOVAL PROCEDURE:

Figure #3: Original bracket removal
Item 1: Bracket mounting bolt at intake manifold
Item 2: Steering tube isolator mounting bolt

1. Remove the steering tube isolator mounting bolt (Figure #3 item 2) from the bracket and set aside.
2 Remove the bracket mounting bolt (Figure #3 item 1) from the intake manifold, discard the bolt and bracket

3. Remove the top intake manifold mounting bolt at #4 cylinder (Figure #4 Item 1) and discard
4. Install the new 7104752C1 stud bolt in place of the bolt just removed in step 3, and torque to 23 +/- 10% Nm

HV / HX CHASSIS INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

5. Install the new 7103958C2 bracket (Figure #5 Item 1) over the 7104752C1 stud bolt (Figure #5 Item 2). Install the new 40066R1 flanged locknut
(Figure #5 Item 3) on the stud and torque to 31 +/- 3 Nm.
6. Install the M6 Isolator mounting bolt (Figure #5 Item 4) and torque to 13 +/- 0.7 Nm

LT / RH CHASSIS INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:

New 7102992C3 Bracket
New 7104752C1 Stud Bolt
New 40066R1 M8 Flanged Locknut
Isolator Mounting Bolt M6 x 25
New HP Power Steering Tube for LT or RH
New Secondary Steering Tube Isolator Assembly

7. Install the new 7102992C3 bracket (Figure #6 Item 1) over the 7104752C1 stud bolt (Figure #6 Item 2). Install the new 40066R1 flanged locknut
(Figure #6 Item 3) on the stud and torque to 31 +/- 3 Nm.
8. Install the M6 Isolator mounting bolt (Figure #6 Item 4) and torque to 13 +/- 0.7 Nm
9. Remove and discard the current high pressure power steering tube.
10. Install the new high pressure power steering tube called out in Figure# 6 Item 5, select which tube is needed by chassis type but DO NOT torque
yet.
11. Assemble the new secondary isolator (Figure #6 Item 6) and install to the new bracket using the 3607293C1 M6 isolator mounting bolt.
Torque the bolt to 13 +/- 0.7 Nm.
12. Torque the new high pressure steering tube fitting at the power steering pump to 62 Nm (46 ft./lb.).
13. Connect the hose at the front of the new high pressure steering tube and torque the fitting.
14. Check power steering fluid level and top off if needed.
