REASON FOR THIS SERVICE ADVISORY
Indian Motorcycle has developed and released new software updates for the following modules:
• Engine Control Module (ECM):
– Improved low-speed / low RPM operation with smoother throttle to wheel power transition.
– Improved consistency when moving in and out of idle RPM range.
– Improved start button functionality to ensure the starter engages in a full start cycle with a single push.
• Anti-lock Braking System (ABS):
– Improved vehicle speed data collection with a faulted wheel speed sensor for accurate speed information.
– Traction control lamp will not be on when traction control is disabled.
– Improved fault timeout handling to prevent boot up nuisance faults U1055-87 and U0100-02.
• Gateway Control Module (GCM):
– Reduction in unnecessary current draw when powered off.

REMEDY
Indian Motorcycle recommends to update the software on motorcycles that exhibit related concerns.

Indian Motorcycle recommends to perform this Service Advisory and update the software on affected motorcycles
that exhibit related concerns before sale or delivery.
Dealers - Please share this information with customers!
For optimal runability, the Engine Controller (ECM) is continuously learning and adapting to the engine. After a
reflash, the ECM needs to adapt and relearn idle values. Initial relearn values will be set after both the following
criteria have been met:
1. Combined idle time of 10 minutes.
2. Combined run time at temperature of 10 minutes.

7. Select Auto Identify.

IMPORTANT
This procedure requires the use of Digital Wrench® II.
Connect a battery tender to the motorcycle during the
programming procedure.
1. Park motorcycle on a flat surface, fully extend side
stand, and make sure vehicle is stable.
2. Connect motorcycle to a battery tender.
3. Make sure that the most current version of Digital
Wrench II has been installed on your PC or laptop.
For installation instructions, Click HERE to view the
Digital Wrench II user manual or visit “Other
Publications” on the left navigation menu of the DEX
STOP site.
4. Remove the seat and locate the diagnostic connector
q.

5. Connect MultiLink XP cables to PC and motorcycle.
Then power on the motorcycle.

8. Select Vehicle Update.

9. Select Continue.

STOP!
Do NOT start the motorcycle.
IMPORTANT
Make sure the vehicle has sufficient battery voltage and
is connected to a battery tender before the reflash.
Failure to do so may result in a reflash crash and
damage the ECM.
6. Open the Digital Wrench II application.

10. Select Engine Control Module (ECM). ABS, and
Gateway. Then select Update ECU.

13. Go back to VEHICLE UPDATE and verify that all
software are now up to date.

14. Connect the diagnostic connector q to the cap.

NOTICE
Some vehicles may already have software up to date.
Select all controllers that are "optional" so they may be
updated at this time.
NOTICE
Performance Calibrations: If a motorcycle is equipped
with an Indian Motorcycle performance calibration,
Digital Wrench II will identify and update to the latest
performance calibration.
11. Once each update is complete, select the Continue
button and leave Digital Wrench II connected and the
ignition powered ON.

15. Install the seat.

STOP!
Do NOT touch the motorcycle for one minute.
12. Power the ignition off.
STOP!
Do NOT touch the power or controls for two minutes.
