Summary
The updated VCU software includes enhancements for 12V and high-voltage battery

Subject: This bulletin TSB-0625-2 supersedes bulletin TSB-0425-01 and adds more VINS to these module
software updates. Vehicles updated with TSB-0425-01 will require this bulletin to be applied, updating the
listed modules outlined in this document.

Bulletin Description: Update the VCU, TCU, BMS, and OTA software to the latest version.
Symptom: The current software for the VCU and TCU may cause various fault codes to be stored in the
vehicle's fault memory. This issue prevents proper High-Voltage Battery
Cell Balancing when using a DC fast
charger. It can cause the 12V battery to drain. Additionally, the OTA does not currently detect faults related to
the High Voltage Battery
. The BMS may report a false positive diagnostic fault code, indicating a stuck closed
contactor, and does not effectively optimize cell balancing time.
Discussion: The updated VCU software includes enhancements for 12V and high-voltage battery![]()
conditioning, as well as resolving issues with incorrectly stored faults. The revised TCU software enhances the
thermal management system and eliminates erroneously stored faults. The updated OTA software enables
TCU and BMS diagnostics to be reported over the air. Additionally, the improved BMS software enhances fault

Bulletin Repair Procedure Details
1. Verify that the low-voltage battery state of charge is 12 volts or higher with the main battery switched
off.
2. Verify the vehicle voltage before starting the update process and monitor it throughout.
3. Update the Software Version for VCU, TCU, and BMS, and check the software in the OTA as outlined
in this technical bulletin.
The update sequence includes the following steps:
a. Connect the breakout Onboard Diagnostic (“OBD”) cable to the OBD port in the vehicle.
b. Ensure the breakout OBD harness is connected to the Vector CAN Case.
c. Connect the Vector CAN Case to the USB port on the laptop. Ensure the Bollinger Motors laptop is
connected to a power supply.
d. Connect the laptop to the internet using a Wi-Fi connection.
e. Start a Microsoft Teams connection on the laptop with the Bollinger Motors Software personnel.
f. Allow Remote Control access to the laptop.
g. Bollinger Motors Software personnel will update VCU SW remotely and also check for proper range
calculation value to be set.
h. Power up the vehicle (Key in --> ACC --> RUN).
i. Wait for directions from the Bollinger Motors Software personnel to cycle the vehicle (Turn ignition
OFF, wait 60 seconds, and Turn ignition ON).
4. Update the Software Version for TCU as outlined in this technical bulletin.
The update sequence includes the following steps:
a. Connect the breakout OBD cable to the OBD port in the vehicle.
b. Make sure the breakout OBD harness is connected to the KVaser tool.
c. Connect the KVaser tool to the USB port on the laptop. Ensure the Bollinger Motors laptop is
connected to a power supply.
d. Connect the laptop to the internet using a WiFi connection.
e. Start a Microsoft Teams connection on the laptop with the Bollinger Motors Software personnel.
f. Allow Remote Control access to the laptop.
g. If not powered, power up the vehicle (Key in --> ACC --> RUN).
h. Bollinger Motors Software personnel will update TCU SW remotely.
i. Wait for directions from the Bollinger Motors Software personnel to cycle the vehicle (turn off, wait
60 seconds, and Then Turn the ignition on).
5. Update the Software Version for BMS as outlined in this technical bulletin.
The update sequence includes the following steps:
a. Connect the breakout OBD cable to the OBD port in the vehicle.
b. Make sure the breakout OBD harness is connected to the Vector tool.
c. Connect the Vector CAN Case to the USB port on the laptop. Ensure the Bollinger Motors laptop is
connected to a power supply.
d. Connect the laptop to the internet using a WiFi connection.

Start a Microsoft Teams connection on the laptop with the Bollinger Motors Software personnel.
Allow Remote Control access to the laptop.
If not powered, power up the vehicle (Key in --> ACC --> RUN).
Bollinger Motors Software personnel will update BMS SW remotely.
Wait for directions from the Bollinger Motors Software personnel to cycle the vehicle (turn off, wait
60 seconds, and Then Turn the ignition on).
6. Over the Air, update the Software Version for OTA as outlined in this technical bulletin.
The update sequence includes the following steps:
a. If not powered, power up the vehicle (Key in --> ACC --> RUN).
b. Bollinger Motors Software personnel will update OTA SW remotely.
c. Wait for directions from the Bollinger Motors Software personnel to cycle the vehicle (Turn OFF,
wait 60 seconds and Turn the ignition ON).
Post-Repair Actions
1. Verification: Check if warning telltales are illuminated in the cluster. Verify that the vehicle can charge
(slowly or quickly). Ensure that the vehicle can start in Ready mode.
The technician is responsible for verifying that the vehicle is operating normally after completing the
software updates.
2. Documentation: Copy of this TSB in a PDF and repair order as the attachments to the warranty claim.
3. Warranty Submission: To submit the warranty claim for this technical service bulletin, select Dealer
Stock Unit (not PDI) as the Service Type on the claim. Select Complaint, Cause, and Corrective Action,
and add descriptions. Attach a copy of the TSB and the repair order to the claim.
Warranty coverage is subject to verification of VIN eligibility, proper documentation of performed
procedures, and successful software update completion. Submitting false claims may result in rejection
or audit action.
4. Please use labor operation - General Purpose Labor Time - 1015.1060. Labor Time - 1.0.
