HOOD LATCH RELEASE CABLE
Description: Some GV70 (JK1A) and GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) vehicles may exhibit a condition
where the hood does not open when the in-cabin hood release lever is engaged. This may be due to
the release cable not being securely mounted in its bracket. This bulletin provides instructions to access
and properly seat the hood release cable into its mounting bracket.

Applicable Vehicles:
• 2026MY GV70 (JK1A) produced 01/30/2025 – 05/09/2025 (VIN starts with “5NM”)
• 2026MY GV70 Electrified (JK1A EV) produced from 03/01/2025 – 05/08/2025

NOTICE
To avoid any potential damage to Genesis EVs, repairs can only be performed by EV certified

part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the affected part is

Lift the vehicle.

Remove all clips (A), plastic retainer nuts (B),
and screws (C) from the driver side front
wheel well guard.

Reach into the engine bay through the gap in
the wheel well and feel along the top of the
body fender to find the hood latch release
cable (D).

NOTICE
Locate the metal cable/ball connector (E)
to confirm you have identified the release
cable and NOT the coolant hose (F).

Pull the hood latch release cable by its metal
cable/ball connector toward the rear of the
vehicle to open the hood.

NOTICE
DO NOT pull the cable by its plastic
fittings. Doing so may damage them (G).

With the hood open, remove the 5 clips from
the driver side front bumper upper cover (H),
and remove the cover.

Using STUI, take a photo of the hood
release cable's existing position NOT
fully seated into the mount with the
last 6 digits of the VIN and the date of
repair on a piece of paper.

Install the hood latch release cable into the
mounting bracket (H).

Ensure the other mounting locations of the
hood release cable are properly installed into
their respective mounts.

Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of
removal.

11.

Pull the in-cabin hood latch and confirm
proper operation.

12.

The service procedure is now complete.
