This bulletin applies to Western Star 49X vehicles that are equipped with the X-series power hood (non-sloped
hood), manufactured March 17, 2022, through September 23, 2024. The grille height of the power hood is
approximately 909 mm, whereas that of the standard hood is approximately 801 mm. See Fig._1.

In certain Western Star 49X vehicles equipped with the X-series power hood, the hood harness may be too short
to route per the original design intent. The intended routing is shown in Fig._2.

If the hood harness is too short, during assembly, the harness may have been routed in such a way that it does
not reach the mounting perches, as shown in Fig..3, and some of the fir-tree cable ties are left out of their proper
mounting locations on the hood. If the harness does not follow the path shown in Fig..2, and is routed as shown
in Fig._3, follow the steps below to reroute the harness.

1. _ Park the vehicle on a level surface, shut down the engine, and set the parking brake. Chock the tires.
2. _ Open the hood.
3. _ Drill five 17/64-inch holes along the hood at the approximate locations, shown in Fig._4.

4. — Route the harness along the path shown in Fig..4.

5. _ Install the fir-tree cables ties in the five holes drilled in the hood. Secure the harness in place with the help of these cable ties.
6. _ Make sure to attach fir-tree cable ties to any missed hole locations along the routing patch, shown in Fig._3.
7. — Remove any extra unused cable ties from the hood harness.

8. — Close the hood.

Warranty.

This procedure is warrantable only if the described condition exists and the repair is performed within the
applicable base or extended coverage warranty period. If a failure is not found, this procedure is considered

preventive and warranty does not apply.
