Condition
Some customers may comment on the restraint warning lamp being illuminated.
Cause
The cause of the condition may be that some chemicals when sprayed in the vicinity of
the passenger presence module may block or contaminate the atmospheric reference
ports. These chemicals include, body sprays, anti-static sprays, window cleaner, silicones
etc.
Important: The sensor should not be sprayed with cleaners or chemical protectants during cleaning or pre-delivery inspection.
Correction
Replace the contaminated passenger presence module. And use care when cleaning
near the module reference port.

Replace the contaminated Passenger Presence Module. Contaminated pictures are shown above with clear liquid
residue shown in pictures. Refer to Airbag Front Passenger Presence Module Replacement in SI.

The sensor is located under the front of the passenger's seat, about 100mm from the front of the seat as seen in the
picture above.
When cleaning the passenger's seat area, spray should be applied to a rag and the parts wiped as described in the
owner's manual under "vehicle care".
Caution: Use cleaners specifically designed for the surfaces being cleaned to prevent permanent damage to the
vehicle. Apply all cleaners directly to a cleaning cloth. Do not spray cleaners on any switches or controls.
