CONDITION
To assist with the early detection and early resolution of audio related concerns you may be asked to recover MMR
data from the head unit. The following steps are instructions on how to retrieve the data from the system and are only
to be used when requested by FTS and/or FPE.
Important Notes
• An empty 4GB to 32GB flash drive in format FAT32 is required to pull MMR logs.
• MMR is a quality investigation tool not a diagnostic tool for case-by-case support.
• MMR data is saved to the internal memory of the head unit when the ignition is cycled to off. Saving this data may
require up to one minute with ignition off.
• If you just experienced a concern and the ignition has not been switched off, you will need to cycle the key off and
back on one time (in a safe location) before attempting to retrieve the MMR data.
• For Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth concerns, the MMR data needs to be pulled, or ignition cycled
off (in a safe location), shortly after the concern is duplicated (~5min) to increase chances of relevant MMR logs to
be saved in HU internal memory. If longer time passes after a concern is duplicated (5+ min since duplication or 30+
min after ignition cycled off/on), there is a risk that the MMR log will have been overwritten. In this case, MMR may
still be pulled, but it will be less likely to contain relevant logs for analysis.
• For other type of concerns, like rebooting, screen, connectivity, communication, settings, etc. MMR may
contain relevant logs for a longer period (approximately 5 days of average driving), depending on driving habits.
• If volume/power knob has been used to restart the head unit, MMR data will be lost. Do not restart the head unit if
you are trying to capture MMR data for a concern.
• If a concern has been experienced, make sure to record the date and time of the occurrence and provide this
along with the MMR data.
• MMR can be uploaded to a TAS case or shared with FTS to be uploaded to OneDrive.
• If MMR is pulled, a report is required, but please DO NOT attach MMR data to DPR/FTR.

RECOMMENDATIONS
1. With ignition ON and vehicle stopped in a safe location, turn the audio OFF (not just turning down
volume).
2. Turn the display OFF in Settings -> Display.
3. Swipe the screen 5 times to the right.
*TIP – swipe from edge of the screen to increase chances of success.
4. Swipe the screen 5 times to the left.
Note: If steps 1-4 do not work, the “Service Menu” can also be accessed using GTS+.
Enter the following menus: Body Electrical > Navigation System > Utility > Diagnostic Mode.
Diagnostic mode will start, and the "Service Menu" screen will be displayed.
5. Select “Failure Diagnosis”.

6. Select “Diagnosis Recorder”.
7. Deselect “Recording ON/OFF” (it should be green, and it needs to be white/grey to continue this process).
8. Press and hold the hidden button for up to 30 seconds.
9. Insert a blank 4GB to 32GB USB drive into the vehicle’s USB port (FAT32 format is required).
10. Press and hold the “output” button for up to 10 seconds.

11. Select the “Yes” button on the pop-up screen.
12. Select the “OK” button on the next pop-up screen.
13. Wait for the files to copy to the USB drive.
14. Once the files have transferred, select the “OK” button.

Applicability
15. Select the “BACK” button in the upper right-hand corner, then turn “Recording ON/OFF” back to
the ON position (should be green to enable MMR recording).
16. Turn the ignition OFF. Once the light on the USB turns off, the USB can be removed.
17. Confirm MMR (21DISP_DREC.zip) was saved to USB properly.
18. Share MMR zip file with FTS to upload it to OneDrive (include report number and timestamp).
FTS can then share with CQS PE or requesting party.
MMR zip file can also be uploaded to TAS case.
Please DO NOT attach MMR data to field report.
