2.0 Water Meter

Purpose:
This bulletin provides instruction for installing an updated water meter.

Notice:
• This bulletin should be read and understood in its entirety before performing this procedure.
• All procedures outlined in the bulletin must be performed by skilled service personnel. Refer to the product
service manual for descriptions of maintenance procedures.

appropriate.

Procedure
Lockout/Tagout
1. Park vehicle on a flat surface, engage parking brake, chock truck tires, and perform your company’s Lockout/
Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and
1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate.
2. The vehicle’s BATTERY DISCONNECT switch is located on the left-hand side of the battery box. Use the
battery disconnect switch when performing any maintenance so the vehicle cannot accidentally be started.
a. Turn the battery disconnect switch (Figure A, Item 1) counterclockwise so the hole on the switch aligns
with the hole in the bracket (Figure A, Item 2).
b. Install the safety lockout device ring (Figure B, Item 1) through the holes on the battery disconnect switch
and the bracket.

c. Install a padlock (Figure B, Item 2) onto the safety lockout device ring, lock it, and put the key in your
pocket. If more than one person is working on the vehicle, each person must install his or her own padlock.

Water Meter Installation
3. Drain the vehicle’s water system by opening the drain valves located below the cab. See Figure 1.

4. Locate water meter inside front roller pedestal and disconnect electrical connector from bottom of water
meter. See Figure 2.

5. Loosen inlet and outlet hose clamps and disconnect hoses from water meter. See Figure 3.
6. Loosen and remove mounting hardware securing water meter to front pedestal. See Figure 3. Mounting
hardware will not be reused. If it’s not possible to remove the mounting screws due to interference with the water
tank, they may be reused for new water meter installation.
7. Remove water meter from front pedestal. Water meter will not be reused.

8. Secure water meter (A001M660) to plate (A001M622) with screws (A001P411). See Figure 4. Make sure to
mount water meter to plate with inlet up, outlet down, and electrical connector on the bottom.

9. Secure water meter and plate to front pedestal with screws (A000B359), washers (A000B329), and lock
nuts (A000B536). See Figure 5. If existing longer mounting screws were not able to be removed install washers
(A000B329) and lock nuts (A000B536) on existing screws. Final tighten mounting hardware to 110 in. lbs.

Reconnect electrical connector to bottom of water meter. See Figure 5.

11.

Reconnect inlet and outlet hoses to water meter and tighten hose clamps to 45 in. lbs. See Figure 6.

Close water system drain valves opened in Step 3.

13.

Remove lockout/tagout and tire chocks.
