IMPORTANT
When receiving a vehicle for service:
• Always lookup the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the Knowledge Center to check for pending campaigns or alerts.
• Always connect the vehicle to the BRP diagnostic software (BUDS) to ensure all required updates are performed.

NOTE
Before replacing the throttle body assembly, or the ETA, always

1. Remove the throttle body, refer to Throttle Body Replacement
in the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) subsection of the Service

2. Fix the throttle body in a bench vise.
NOTE
NOTE
Before replacing the ETA, carefully clean the throttle body, refer
to Throttle Body Cleaning in the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI)
Do not damage the sealing surface. Use aluminum or
subsection of the Service Manual.

DO NOT untighten the three (3) adjustment screws which are
secured with locking paint.

ELECTRIC THROTTLE ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT
2. If necessary, re-clean the throttle body. Refer to Throttle Body
Cleaning in the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) subsection of
the Service Manual. Replace throttle body assembly if
necessary.
3. Before replacing the ETA, check the following:
• Free movement of actuator axis
• ETA not responding
• Bad electrical connection
NOTICE
The axis shaft movement is critical. Any restrictions
could lead to new actuator failure. Refer to TST
ROADSTER DTC P1614 ECM (991) - 27826 for
cleaning procedure.
3. Remove the ETA retaining screws with lock washers and pull
out the ETA.
Installing the ETA
1. Push in the spring-loaded bolt and keep it in open position by
inserting an open-end wrench (4 mm) between throttle lever

throttle lever several times.

ELECTRIC THROTTLE ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT
1. Throttle lever, push to its end point
2. Open-end wrench (4 mm)
3. Insert ETA lever here
1. Spring-loaded bolt
4. Align retaining screw bores
2. Throttle lever
3. Remove open-end wrench and screw in ETA retaining screws
3. Open-end wrench (4 mm)
with lock washers, do not tighten now.
4. Circlip
2. Turn throttle lever to its end point and attach the ETA onto the
throttle body, take care to insert the ETA lever correctly and
align the ETA retaining screw bores.
1. Open-end wrench, remove it
2. ETA retaining screws with lock washers, do not tighten
4. Visually align the centerline of the throttle axis with the
centerline of the ETA by hand.

5. Tighten ETA retaining screws to specification.

0.7 Nm (6 lbf-in)
6. Check free movement of the throttle body axis by turning the
throttle lever several times.
7. Reinstall throttle body asssembly. Refer to Throttle Body
Replacement in the Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) subsection
of the Service Manual.
8. Connect the vehicle to BUDS All Products and perform the
ECM First Initialization / TPS reset.
