Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Vibration From Engine Or Powertrain. Powertrain Mounting
Neutralization Procedure.
Discussion: Service information is in the process of being updated to include
powertrain mount installation best practices. The new procedure will neutralize the
mounts to lessen or remove unwanted mount tension that can lead to vibration
complaints. See the below procedure for the improved steps.
POWERTRAIN MOUNT NEUTRALIZATION – RU (ALL
VARIANTS)
NOTE: RU FWD left transmission mount shown (Fig 1).
1. Remove or relocate components as required to access the engine mount bolts (Refer to 09 - Engine/Engine
Mounting/INSULATOR, Engine Mount/Removal) .
2. Loosen the left trans mount to transmission bracket bolts (Fig 1. Labelled 1).

3. Loosen the left trans mount to frame rail bolt (Fig 1. Labelled 2).
4. Loosen the bolt for the left trans mount to strut tower (Fig 1. Labelled 3) attachment, if equipped.
5. If necessary for access, remove the bolts (Fig 2. Labelled 1) and wire harness bracket from the left transmission
mount bracket.

1. Raise and support the vehicle (Refer to 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure) .
2. Remove the belly pan (if equipped) (Refer to 13 - Frame and Bumpers/Under Body Protection/BELLY PAN/Removal) .
3. Loosen the rear engine torque mount to transmission bracket bolt (Fig 5. Labelled 1).

NOTE: RU FWD rear engine torque mount shown (Fig 6).
1. Raise and support the vehicle (Refer to 04 - Vehicle Quick Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure) .
2. Center the powertrain in the engine mounts:
•
Allow the powertrain to relax.
•
Manually position the powertrain as close as possible to a position where the right and left engine
mounts appear centered in their housings and are not skewed front-to-rear or side-to-side.
•
Again, allow the powertrain to relax.
