This bulletin provides a procedure by which to validate Command Zone device software versions in Pierce custom

NOTE: This procedure requires that the apparatus’ Command Zone devices (Display, Control Module, &
Telematics Control Unit) are installed and in a fully functional state. Ensure that all electrical
connections are connected and that the devices are mechanically secured prior to undertaking
this procedure.
Purpose:
Pierce custom chassis apparatus equipped with Command Zone multiplexed electrical systems require software
for each Command Zone device for the apparatus to properly function – specifically the Display, Control Module
(CM), and the Telematics Control Unit (TCU).
Software is sometimes updated in accordance with customer requests for changes in apparatus systems function,
for resolution of discrepancies found in previously installed software, and/or to provide customers with enhanced
system features. It is necessary to validate the current versions of installed Display, CM, and TCU software to
ensure that candidate updates are compatible with the truck, that updates have been properly applied to the
apparatus, or to assist with troubleshooting observed discrepancies during operation of the apparatus.
This procedure enables the user to properly identify installed Display, CM, and TCU software versions using the
Display unit and CZ Webpages application.
NOTE: The Command Zone Display should be used to determine the current Display software version and
the CZ Webpages application should be used to determine the current CM and TCU software
versions.

Procedure:
1. On the apparatus, turn the Battery Master switch ON.
2. On a laptop computer, connect to the apparatus’ WiFi network. This can be accomplished by selecting
the WiFi network named with the apparatus’ job number preceded by a ‘T’ (e.g., ‘T38786_01’) unless the
network name has been changed by a dealer. Contact the dealer service representative or Pierce
Customer Service for support, as required.

3. Open a new window/tab in a web browser application (e.g., Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft
Edge, etc.). Ensure to place the browser into ‘incognito’/private browsing mode.
4. Navigate to the CZ Webpages application by entering https://piercecz.com into the address bar at the
top of the browser.
NOTE: Ensure that there are no spaces in the web address when entering into the address bar. Do not let
the address auto-complete/auto-fill from history – ensure that you enter in the full address.
5. Click on the ‘Additional Pages’ icon along the bottom of the page.

8. The installed TCU and CM software versions are displayed on the page in the indicated areas:

NOTE: As indicated in the example CZ Webpages screenshot above, the CM version expected by to be
seen by the TCU may not match what is actually installed on the truck: when this occurs, a ‘JOBS
DO NOT MATCH’ icon is displayed on the upper righthand side of the CZ Webpages screen. This
condition has no impact on operation of the apparatus or its systems.
9. On the Command Zone Display, press the ‘Additional Pages’ icon or the corresponding select key:

10. On the next screen, press the “SETUP” button.

11. Press the “PASSWORD” button.

12. Press “LOG IN”.

13. Enter the Administrator password for the truck. If required, please contact your Pierce authorized dealer
or Pierce Customer Support for assistance.

14. After logging in, press the BACK ARROW to refresh the page.

15. Scroll down through the available SETUP menu items until you see the “ABOUT DISPLAY” button by
using the down arrow button on the lefthand side.

16. Press the “ABOUT DISPLAY” button.

17. The installed Display software version is shown next to ‘CURRENT APPLICATION VERSION’.
