Description of Change
New high-pressure fuel pump assembly with external air bleed function released for service.
Reason for Change
The fuel pump external air-bleed function was integrated to support engine startability by bleeding air from the fuel system. See Figure 1, Fuel Pump with External AirBleed.

For repairs requiring a new fuel pump, see corresponding Service Manual. Refer to Procedure 005-016 (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/453/453-005-016.html) in
Section 5.
For repairs of fuel pump head(s) equipped with an air vent line. See Figure 2, Fuel Pump Head Service Installation.
Remove the M8 banjo connection at the top of the fuel pump head.
Disconnect and move the air vent line to allow adequate clearance for installation of new pump head(s). See corresponding Service Manual. Refer to
Procedure 005-227 (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/453/453-005-227.html)in Section 5.
Only remove the cap plug and washer for the front pump head where air vent line, Part Number 5572272, is being installed.
Install upper air vent line banjo bolt, Part Number 5572257, and two sealing washers, Part Number 4975432. Torque Value M8 Banjo Bolt 15 n∙m [ 11 ft-lb ].
Install rear air vent line banjo bolt, Part Number 5593874, and two sealing washers, Part Number 3963991. Torque Value M16 Banjo Bolt 40 n∙m [ 30 ft-lb ].
