Subject: PMP4 ECU calibration update
Dear Dealer / Service Centre / Authorised workshop,
As part of the ongoing research, monitoring and improvement process of the technical solutions
used by the models in question and the attention we pay to our customers, we are announcing
the availability of an update to the PMP4 ECU calibration. This makes it possible to update and
thus equate a limited number of vehicles of the model in question with all those subsequently
produced.
The main improvements introduced with this calibration are:
•
Infotainment: irreversible blocking of the ECU in the event of pairing by the smartphone.
The correct procedure is for the PMP4 to be paired by searching from the instrument
cluster, not from the smartphone;
•
Infotainment: possible malfunctions of the intercom while listening to music or making
calls;
•
Infotainment: resetting the call time count after approximately 4 minutes of
conversation,
•
Infotainment :(only RS-Tuono 660 E5+): failure to connect the PMP4 to the instrument
cluster.
The above operation is to be understood as included in the normal maintenance activities to be
carried out together with the pre-delivery or the first appropriate visit to the workshop for
vehicles in use.
We would also like to remind you that no component replacement warranties will be accepted
for faults resolved by this software. In the event of any other problems, the P.A.D.S. screen
showing the software version of the ECU itself must be attached to the warranty claim.

OPERATING PROCEDURE
To update the PMP44 ECU software, the P.A.D.S. diagnostic tool must be connected to the
vehicle using the EOBD accessory cable code 021017Y (see images proposed by P.A.D.S.
during the connection phase) and update the diagnostic tool to the latest release available,
which occurs automatically every 2 hours if connected to a data network.

Before starting the update, check that the battery is charged and working correctly, or
connect to an external power supply.
•
Connect the PC to the mains and disable any screen savers.
•
With the key in the OFF position, connect the cable code 021017Y to the red EOBD
diagnostic connector, located under the seat.
•
Turn the key to ON.
•
Connect the P.A.D.S. tool to the vehicle, select the new software from the Aprilia RSV4
my25 e5+ or Rs/Tuono660 e5+ / PMP4 ECU / Reprogramming/ menu, select the proposed
software and confirm with "START UPDATE".
•
Never turn the key to OFF or close the P.A.D.S. interface program during the map update.
•
Once the update is completed successfully,
•

Access the menu of the ABS ECU and engine ECU to clear any errors.

Should the software update fail, please submit a technical help desk ticket enclosing the
reprogramming report of the PMP4 ECU (see example below).
