M0480 RADIATOR MOUNT ISOLATOR
OVERVIEW
Subject vehicles contain a radiator mount vibration isolator that may have been
manufactured using a surface coating that may cause the isolator rubber to crack
and separate over time. The following work procedure will provide guidance for
replacement of the isolators.

SUBJECT VEHICLES
Thirty-eight (38) 2024 model year Hino conventional vehicles manufactured
before March 15, 2023 are affected.
NOTE: Refer to the appropriate Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) list to
determine vehicle eligibility.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

- Read and understand all instructions and procedures before you begin the work.
- Read and follow all WARNINGS and NOTICES set forth in this publication. These
alerts help to avoid damage to components, serious personal injury, or both.
- Park the vehicle on a flat, level and solid surface.
- Place the gear shift lever in "Neutral" or "Park".
- Apply the parking brake firmly and confirm parking brake activation.
- Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Always wear safety glasses or goggles to protect your eyes.
- Place wheel chocks in front of and behind all the wheels to prevent the vehicle
from moving.

VEHICLE PREPARATION
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level and
solid surface.

2. Confirm the engine is stopped, the
ignition switch is in the off (LOCK)
position, and the key is removed.

3. Apply the parking brake.

4. Chock all the wheels.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Release the hood latches on the left
and right side of the vehicle.

2. Fully raise the hood.

3. Remove the two 12mm fasteners
from air horn (if equipped) and set air
horn aside.

4. Remove the five 10mm fasteners
from passenger side splash shield and
remove the splash shield from vehicle.

5. Remove the six 12mm fasteners from
the passenger side radiator support
brackets and remove brackets from
vehicle.

6. Loosen but do not remove the four
12mm fasteners from the driver side
radiator support bracket. (Driver side
splash shield removed for clarity).

7. Remove the two 14mm fasteners and
metal plate from the lower radiator
mounts on both the driver and
passenger sides of the vehicle.
Accessed from top side of vehicle
between the frame rail and radiator.
8. Remove the upper radiator isolator
bushings from both the driver and
passenger sides of the vehicle and
discard.

NOTICE: Before proceeding be sure all fasteners have been loosened and or
removed in steps 5 thru 8.
9. Position a floor jack with a block of
wood under the passenger side of the
lower radiator tank. Slowly raise the
radiator approximately 2 inches.

10. Remove the lower two 19mm
fasteners from the passenger side front
spring hanger reinforcement bracket.

11. Lower the passenger side radiator
mounting bracket in the frame rail,
remove lower radiator isolator bushing
and discard. Install a new 16523EW0010
radiator isolator bushing.

12. Reposition the lower radiator
mounting bracket on frame rail, align the
holes and reinstall the fasteners removed
in step 10. Tighten these to the specified
torque. Lower the radiator.
Specified Torque: 88 lb-ft (119Nm)

13. Reinstall both passenger side support
brackets removed in step 5. Do not tighten
the fasteners at this time.

14. Remove the four fasteners and the
driver side radiator support bracket
loosened in step 6.

15. Repeat steps 9 thru 12 on driver side
of vehicle.

16. Install a new 16523EW010 radiator
isolator bushing, metal plate and the
two 14mm fasteners removed in step 7
onto the lower radiator mounts on both
the driver and passenger sides of the
vehicle. Tighten the 14mm fasteners to
the specified torque.
Specified Torque: 26 lb-ft (35Nm)
17. Reinstall the driver side radiator
support bracket and the four fasteners
removed in step 14. Tighten to the
specified torque.
Specified Torque: 23 lb-ft (31Nm)

18. Tighten the six 12mm fasteners
installed in step 13 on the passenger side
radiator support brackets to the specified
torque.
Specified Torque: 23 lb-ft (31Nm)
19. Reinstall the passenger side splash
shield and the five 10mm fasteners
removed in step 4. Tighten to the specified
torque.
Specified Torque: 16 lb-ft (22Nm)

20. Reinstall the air horn and the two
12mm fasteners removed in step 3 (If
equipped). Tighten the fasteners to the
specified torque.
Specified Torque: 16 lb-ft (22Nm)

FINAL INSPECTION
1. To complete this procedure review and confirm the following:
•
All four radiator isolator bushings have been replaced with new parts
•
All fasteners have been tightened to the specified torque
