SITUATION
The vehicle applies the brakes on its own when reversing onto an inclined roadway or driveway. This applies
only to the situation where the Active PDC option is activated via the iDrive.
CAUSE
U
Software of the ultrasonic sensors and PDC control unit.
CORRECTION
U
Perform a coding-only conversion to modify the vehicle order (VO) and add “PDCD”.
PROCEDURE
1. Duplicate the issue.
2. Perform diagnosis with ISTA 4.19.1 (released early September 2019) or higher.
3. Complete test plan for related fault codes stored.
4. With vehicle connected to ISTA 4.19.1x or higher5. Go to conversions
6. Select “PDC ground detection when reversing”
7. Perform coding only conversion to add “PDCD” to the VO
8. Also refer to TRI B66 11 18, which contains information on the limitation of PDC system.

If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead of
00 00 006.
Refer to AIR for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.
Work time labor operation code 61 00 006 is not considered a Main labor operation; however, it does require
an individual punch time.
Work time labor operation code 66 20 000 is also not considered a Main labor operation and since the work
time FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.
However, both work time labor operations still require an explanation on the repair order and in the claim
comments section.
