(SERVICE CAMPAIGN TCU)

SUBJECT:

 IMPORTANT
Dealers must perform this service campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
Access the “Vehicle Information” screen via WebDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: Certain Tucson Hybrid (NX4 HEV) vehicles may have incorrect drive motor identification
codes on the aluminum plate attached to the drive motor housing. Follow the procedure in this TSB to
replace the aluminum plate and barcode sticker with the correct drive motor identification.

NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing this campaign and the affected
part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair order. If the affected part is
out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration prior to performing the
work.
NOTE 3: This TSB includes Repair validation photos. Op times include VIN, Mileage, and Repair
validation photo(s) as outlined in the Digital Documentation Policy.
NOTE 4: The incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center
(WTC) parts return process. Claim is subject to debit if the part is not returned.

1.

Remove the engine room junction box cover.

2.

Disconnect the high voltage cut-off switch (A)
in the direction of the arrow.

WARNING

Wait for more than 3 minutes so that the
capacitor in the high voltage system can
be fully discharged.
Refer to the shop manual for detailed
instructions and warnings:

Disconnect the intercooler outlet hose (B).

During installation, install the pipe or hose
by matching the mark or groove of each
assembly with the mark, then push it all
the way until the clip clicks.

NOTICE
When working with quick connector type
intercooler hoses and pipes, be careful
NOT to touch or detach the rubber seal
(C) inside.

Remove the bracket bolt (D).

picture to the right. Proceed with the
replacement procedure.

Aluminum Plate and Barcode Replacement
1.

Peel off the packaging of the high-strength
epoxy Putty-Magic Stick (for metal) and cut it
into strips 3 mm wide (A) with a scissors or
knife as shown.

2.

Mix one piece of cut epoxy putty until the color
is uniform, approximately 20-30 seconds.

3.

Spread the mixed adhesive evenly on the back
of the aluminum plate as shown (B).

Attach the mixed adhesive to the plate
before it hardens.

Attach the aluminum plate (C) below the QR
code (D) on the housing, positioned as shown.

Press down on the entire aluminum plate (C)
to ensure it adheres evenly to the housing.

Remove any adhesive that has oozed out from
the sides of the plate using a knife (D).

Also remove any dirt and debris from the
surrounding area.

existing one, ensuring it is positioned as
shown in relation to the indicated bolt (F).

DIGITAL
DOCUMENTATION

Using STUI, take a photo of the new
aluminum plate and barcode sticker
with the assistance of a mirror for the
barcode sticker, along with the last 6
digits of the VIN and the date of repair
on a piece of paper.
Upload the photo to STUI.

9.

Reinstall all removed parts in the reverse order
of removal.

10.

Service procedure is complete.
