SYMPTOM:

Customers must experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination and the vehicle must
exhibit/set the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC):
● P2601-00 - Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off.

CAUSE:

Auxiliary coolant pump blockage

REPAIR SUMMARY:
This bulletin involves replacing the auxiliary coolant pump and the pump inlet pipe.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or symptom conditions, other
than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary before
proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the customer describes any of the symptoms listed above in the customer symptom section, perform the
Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Using wiTECH, check for DTCs.
2. Is DTC P2601-00 - Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off set in the Hybrid Control
Processor (HCP)?
● YES>>> Proceed to Step 3.
● NO>>> This bulletin does not apply.
3. Perform the following preliminary P2601-00 - Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off
diagnostics:
● Check that the high-temperature circuit coolant is at the correct level and of the indicated type.
● Check for leaks, twisting and holes in the high temperature coolant circuit piping.
● Check the correct operation of the power supply fuse of the auxiliary water pump supplementary heater
pump.
● Disconnect the connector of the auxiliary water pump supplementary heater pump and the connector for
the HCP.
● Check the condition of the wire harness connectors and confirm that the connector terminals are not
damaged, deformed, corroded, bent or disconnected.
● Check for an open circuit in the auxiliary water pump supplementary heater pump supply line. Check for
presence of open circuit in the wiring of the LIN line between the auxiliary water pump supplementary
heater pump and the HCP.
● Check for presence of a short circuit the auxiliary water pump supplementary heater pump power supply
line wiring. Check for presence of a short circuit in the wiring of the LIN line between the auxiliary water
pump supplementary heater pump and the HCP.
● For further information, refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/Service
Library under: Service Info> 28 - DTC-Based Diagnostics / Module, Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) /
Diagnosis and Testing / P2601-00 - Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit Performance/Stuck Off.
4. Did the DTC diagnostics indicate no trouble found?
● YES>>> Proceed to Step 5.
● NO>>> Perform the repair indicated in the DTC diagnostics then proceed to Step 7.
5. Replace the auxiliary coolant pump. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info> 1088C16 Additional Water Pump R.R.
6. Replace the pump inlet pipe. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library under: Service Info> 1088H93 Coolant Sleeve From Supplementary Coolant Pump To
Thermostat -R.R.

7. Clear DTCs.
