SERVICE:
Clear the DTC and check if the vehicle software is the latest version. If not, please perform a Total
Upgrade of the software according to TJ 31543.
Perform the following to prompt EGR to activate:
Note: Conduct steps 1-3 in a safe open area or empty side road:
1. Start in 3rd gear (M3)
2. Accelerate at full load for 10-15 seconds with the gear locked in 3rd.
3. Repeat this process 5 times.
*4. Perform a test drive with the combustion engine at varying loads for 20-25 minutes in a speed
range between 50-100 km/h (30-60 mph).
5. Perform a new VIDA readout, check if DTC re-occurs.
If the DTC doesn’t re-occur, release the car to the customer.
If the DTC returns, continue with VIDA fault tracing.
Inform the customer that the DTC can be set as a result of driving for long periods at low engine
load.
Work is ongoing to prevent the DTC.
If the above measures have not been effective and/or the vehicle has been in multiple times for this
issue, see information under Vehicle Report.

To get a warranty claim accepted for a job described in this TJ, use the corresponding VST OP
number stated in this TJ.
Note that the TJ number must be stated in the repair order text.
NOTE: Operation 36001-2 should only be claimed if the vehicle did not require a software upgrade
per the above instructions. It can NOT be claimed in conjunction with 36004-2.
