Condition

Customer states:

+ MlL on or Exhaust emissions warning lamp appears in instrument cluster.

Workshop findings:

The following DTCs along with symptom codes are stored in the ECM J623 (address word 0001):

+ _U060A00: (Symptom code: 30502) Lost communication with Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor “B” (Bank 2).
+ U060900: (Symptom code: 35403) Lost communication with Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor “A” (Bank 1).
The following DTCs along with symptom codes may be stored in the ECM J623 (address word 0001):

+ POOAAOD: (Symptom code: 33146) Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Bank 2 circuit.

+ P044100: (Symptom code: 34785) EVAP emissions Control System Incorrect Purge flow.

Technical Background

Intake manifold pressure senders G71 (bank 1) and G429 (bank 2) measure the intake manifold pressure and the
temperature of the intake air. The signals from the sensors after the throttle valve are used by the engine control unit
to monitor the air mas (determine the charge).

The signal is transmitted to the engine control unit from the SENT protocol. Addition information is available in SSP
676/ SSP 920493.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

Please replace the intake manifold pressure sender which is based on the DTCs along with symptom codes are that
are stored in the ECM J623 (address word 0001), i.e. G71 (Bank 1) or G429 (bank 2).

Before fitting the new sensor, please take a photo which clearly shows the contact surface on the intake manifold
side and upload it to DOC-IT.

Refer to the Figure 1 of the contact surface on the intake manifold side for an example.

When installing the new intake manifold pressure, please ensure that the sender cover is not stressed/ no
application of forces (see red surface in Figure 2). Please therefore do not press on the surface during
installation as this could damage the sender.

When billing, please always attach photos/videos that clearly shows the complaint to DOC-IT. To ensure a reference
to the vehicle, the image/video must:
+ Include the VIN and date.
+ Must not be edited.
+ Should be in focus and taken with sufficient light. A high resolution is not necessary.
If appropriate, please mark the location of the problem so that parts analysis has a clear reference to the complaint.
Please ensue that the photo documentation does not show any persons and/or face, license plates, or customer
data.
