Summary
Some customers may experience an inacurrate fuel gauge: Rapid fuel level drop when fuel guage is below 1/4. • Distance to empty reading (DTE) is incorrect. • DTC P0462:00 (Fuel gauge sender unit system: Low input) may be stored. • Engine no start and fuel guage shows vehicle has fuel, but engine starts after adding fuel. • This may be caused by a faulty Fuel Gauge Sender Unit (Sub).

DESCRIPTION
Some customers may experience an inacurrate fuel gauge:

Rapid fuel level drop when fuel guage is below 1/4.
Distance to empty reading (DTE) is incorrect.
DTC P0462:00 (Fuel gauge sender unit system: Low input) may be stored.
Engine no start and fuel guage shows vehicle has fuel, but engine starts after adding fuel.
This may be caused by a faulty Fuel Gauge Sender Unit (Sub).
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify the customer concern.
2. Perform FUEL DRAINING PROCEDURE [H3T].
3. When the fuel stops draining, remove the fuel
pump relay jumper and wait 5 minutes.
4. Reinstall the fuel pump relay jumper and allow
the fuel to drain again.

6. Reinstall the fuel pump relay jumper and allow
the fuel to drain again.
7. When the fuel stops draining, remove the fuel
pump relay jumper and go to the next step.

8. Check the Fuel Gauge Sender Unit (Sub) resistance using MDARS. Go to Toolbox --> Datalogger --> BCM --> FUEL_
GAUGE_RES_SUB.
