This CBR solution provides a step-by-step procedure for using longer Hood Tilt Switch
mount screws and additional washers on Volvo Autohauler (VAH) and Volvo Heavy
Duty (VHD) models. It is specifically designed for units equipped with bodybuilder
applications that enable remote start/stop functionality outside the cab when the
PTO (Power Take-Off) is engaged.
The Hood Tilt Switch is a safety sensor that disables remote start when the hood is
opened or tilted.

1. Park the Vehicle
Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface.
2. Apply the Parking Brake
Engage the parking brake to prevent movement.
3. Place Gear in Neutral
Shift the gear lever to the neutral position.
4. Install Wheel Chocks
Place wheel chocks on both sides of the rear tires to stabilize the
vehicle.
5. Disconnect Battery
Disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal.

6. Raise the Hood
Unlatch and raise the hood for access to the hood tilt switch.

Replacement Procedure
1. Replace Mount Screws
Remove both existing mount screws that secure the hood tilt switch
to the bracket. (Ensure all bracket fasteners are present and
securely tightened.)
Replace them with longer screws to ensure a more secure and
stable connection of the hood tilt switch to the bracket.
2. Add Washers
Insert additional washers between the hood tilt switch sensor and the
bracket.
The added washers are essential to prevent any potential signal
interference with the switch magnet, ensuring proper functionality of
the hood tilt switch.
3. Final Check and Testing
Confirm that all components, including the hood tilt switch, mount
screws, and washers, are securely fastened.
Test the hood tilt switch by attempting to initiate the remote start
function with the hood open or tilted. The remote start should not
function when the hood is tilted, as a safety measure.
