Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit a ting or click noise from the front or
rear wheel hubs when accelerating, applying brakes or when shifting between drive and reverse. This condition may
be caused by a stick/slip condition between the hub and halfshaft interface.
Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to
install an anti-ting washer between the wheel hub and axle shaft.

Service Procedure
1. Drive the vehicle to verify which hub or hubs are exhibiting the concern.
(1). Accelerate/apply brakes or shift from forward to reverse.
2. Inspect the affected wheel hub to axle shaft interface for an anti-ting washer (Figure 1) by removing the affected
wheel hub.

(1). For front wheel hubs, refer to WSM Section 204-01B Front Suspension - LHD 4WD > Removal and
Installation > Front Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub - Electric.
(2). For rear wheel hubs, refer to WSM Section 204-02 Rear Suspension > Removal and Installation > Wheel
Bearing and Wheel Hub - Electric.
3. Does the affected axle shaft have an anti-ting washer installed?
(1). Yes - proceed to Step 4.
(2). No - install an anti-ting washer on the affected axle shaft (Figure 1) then proceed to Step 4.
4. Reassemble the vehicle.
(1). For front wheel hubs, refer to WSM Section 204-01B Front Suspension - LHD 4WD > Removal and
Installation > Front Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub - Electric.
(2). For rear wheel hubs, refer to WSM Section 204-02 Rear Suspension > Removal and Installation > Wheel
Bearing and Wheel Hub - Electric.
