HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT
(WARRANTY EXTENSION Z05G)
Description: Certain 2019-2023MY G70 (IK) vehicles are equipped with high pressure fuel pump
(HPFP) assemblies that have fuel control valves (FCV) that could allow excess fuel to enter the fuel
pump due to gradual wear of the FCV plunger. An air/fuel mixture that runs too “rich” may result in a
reduction or loss of motive power at low speeds. The vehicle will also have Diagnostic Trouble Code
(DTC) P0088.
Genesis is extending warranty coverage for the HPFP under this condition to 15 years or 150,000 miles
from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use (whichever occurs first) and is valid for original
and subsequent owners.
Follow the service procedure in this TSB to replace the HPFP.

NOTE 1: If the affected parts are within the extended period of 15 years or 150,000 miles then submit
as a campaign claim type.
NOTE 2: If a part that is not covered by this TSB is found in need of replacement while performing
Z05G and the affected part is still under warranty, submit a separate claim using the same repair
order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a Prior Approval request for goodwill consideration
prior to performing the work.
NOTE 3: The incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center
(WTC) parts return process. Claim is subject to debit if the part is not returned.

Inspection and Service Procedure Overview:

Service Procedure:

NOTICE
Applying the recommended torque to all fasteners is essential to reduce potential issues from
occurring after the service procedure.
1.

Using a GDS scan tool, inspect to confirm if vehicle has DTC P0088 (or P008800).
•

If vehicle has DTC P0088/P008800, then follow the next steps below to replace the high
pressure fuel pump.

•

If vehicles does NOT have DTC P0088/P008800, this TSB does NOT apply. Continue
with normal diagnosis.

Information

If dealer attempts to order the high pressure fuel pump kit and there is no corresponding
DTC P0088/P008800 found, the order will be subject to cancellation.
2.

Verify that Recall 023G has been completed previously.
•

Verify ECU Update Event #1140 has been completed.

•

If Recall 023G has NOT been performed, this TSB does NOT apply.
o Follow the service procedure listed in Recall 023G (TSB 24-01-076G or latest
version) to resolve the DTC P0088 (or P008800) concern.

Follow the shop manual to release the residual fuel pressure in the fuel line.
• Engine Control / Fuel System > Fuel Delivery System > Release Residual Pressure in
Fuel Line

Information

When removing the fuel pump fuse, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may occur. Delete
the code with the diagnostic tool afterwards.
4.

Record all radio presets and disconnect the battery negative (−) terminal.

5.

Refer to the shop manual to remove the intake manifold.
• Engine Mechanical System > Intake and Exhaust System > Intake Manifold > Repair
procedures

6.

Refer to the shop manual to remove the high pressure fuel pump and high pressure pipe.
• Engine Control / Fuel System > Fuel Delivery System > High Pressure Fuel Pump >
Repair procedures

7.

Refer to the shop manual to complete the
installation of the new high pressure fuel pump,
the new high pressure pipe, and all related
parts.

Information

Be sure to transfer the shim-type metal
pump gasket (A) and the low pressure fuel
hose quick connector clamp (B) (if
equipped) over to the new High Pressure
Fuel Pump.
