Condition
A customer may comment a Service High Voltage Message, Unable to
Charge Message, or MIL is displayed on the Dash. Due to P2980
1) A potential software anomaly may be present.
Cause
Correction:
1. With the vehicle in Service mode, use GDS2, verify if the vehicle has the following
DTC; P2980 set as current or history.
2. Verify if DTCs P0AA6, P0DAA, P302F, U2BFF or U359E are set as current or history.
If any of the DTCs other than P2980 are present refer to: Diagnostic Trouble
Code (DTC) List - Vehicle and follow published SI procedures.
3. For P2980 Program the K16 BECM with the latest calibrations from SPS2. Once the
calibrations have been updated, and or validated to be current proceed to step four.
4. To verify vehicle is repaired two short drive cycles are required. Drive the vehicle
above 20 MPH for at least 5 seconds then stop vehicle and shift to park, repeat this
step one more time.
5. Once drive cycle is completed use GDS2 to verify code P2980 has not returned. If
code has returned see diagnostic tips below
Diagnostic Aid:
communicate to the customer that contaminants (example: snow, ice, or
moisture) in the charge port can also cause this DTC to set..
If still setting current follow published diagnostic procedures in Service
Information.
